During the May Day holiday, we went out for a spring hike and found the mountain scenery especially beautiful, with the grass and leaves especially green. My husband casually dug up a few "weeds," brought them home and tossed them into a pot, and unexpectedly they bloomed into picture-perfect flowers!

During this time we didn't do much careful tending, and the weeds made a full comeback!! I really can't believe the saying "garden flowers are not as beautiful as wild flowers" - it really seems to be true! The little blooms it produced are exquisite and beautiful, simple and elegant, decorating the balcony magnificently!

Wild flowers and plants have vigorous vitality and strong ability to adapt to their environment. When digging them up to bring home, it's best to keep some soil around the roots, so that when planted in a pot, 99% of them will survive, and the flowers they produce are bright and beautiful, not inferior at all to flowers you buy!

After searching online using the flower's picture, I finally found out its name! It's called qiuying, which sounds quite "commonplace," but it also has a very impressive name - cosmos (large cosmos), and the flowers are quite classy too! I never expected my husband actually brought home a treasure!

If fellow gardeners go out for a spring hike and spot this beautiful flower, you can also bring some home. Placed on the balcony it looks beautiful and grand, and you don't have to spend money to buy it! The key is it's easy to grow!

Don't mind me being long-winded! Let me share how to grow qiuying (cosmos)!

It is a perennial herbaceous plant, with flowers mostly single-petaled. Though simple, they are still beautiful and elegant, with flower colors including purplish red, pink, white and so on. Decorating a courtyard or balcony with them will have a nice accent effect.

It likes a warm environment with plenty of sunlight. Normally you can place it on a south-facing balcony in a spot with good ventilation. It is fairly tolerant of poor soil, but the soil you choose should be loose with good drainage, because it fears waterlogging.

It is not fond of fertilizer, but during the bud stage you can spray common phosphorus-potassium fertilizer to promote flowering, making the flower colors more vivid and gorgeous and improving the decorative effect.

If your home has a terrace, growing it on the terrace is also very suitable. Grow more of them, and you can decorate your home as beautifully as a little garden!

That's all for today's sharing!
