Clivia is an excellent flowering plant grown both for its foliage and its flowers. If you usually find fertilizing a hassle, you can water it with a bit of this kind of water, which gives it enough nutrients to keep buds emerging nonstop and keeps the leaves glossy green.

When using beer to grow clivia, there are mainly these three ways to use it:

1. Dilute beer with water and water the plant

First of all, beer is rich in amino acids, maltose and various vitamins, so using it to grow clivia is perfectly feasible, but the most important thing is to pay attention to the amount used.

Generally, when using beer to water clivia, you must never pour it on directly; it has to be diluted with water first. The ratio of beer to water is about 1:35. Watering the plant with the prepared beer water will not harm the clivia's roots, nor will it cause the soil to become compacted. After absorbing the nutrients, the clivia will grow even better.

2. Beer can be used as a base fertilizer

Beer is a liquid, so when used as a base fertilizer it is mixed together with soil. Generally, clivia is repotted with fresh soil, moved to a new pot and fertilized in spring. At this time, put the soil mixed with beer into about the bottom third of the flower pot; this will not harm the roots and can keep working over time, and you will not need to fertilize it regularly afterward, which is very convenient.

3. Beer can be used to wipe the leaves

Clivia leaves are large and easily accumulate dust, which really affects their appearance. We can mix beer and water at a ratio of 1:20, then dip a wet towel or sponge in it to wipe the leaves, or simply mix it and pour it into a spray bottle to spray the leaves. Not only can this wash off the dust on them, it also provides nutrients that make the leaves shiny and the flowers more vivid.

When using beer to grow clivia, the main thing is still to pay attention to the amount used. The first time you use it, it is better to make it weaker rather than stronger. Although a weaker ratio may not have much effect, at least it will not harm the clivia, and afterward you can adjust the ratio yourself.
