When people talk about Manjusaka, the "red spider lily", its bewitching color and form always set the imagination racing. The seas of crimson blossoms in TV shows and movies are incomparably beautiful. Want to bring that beauty into your own home? Try growing a pot of red spider lily yourself!

The red spider lily has one very notable trait: it grows leaves first and then blooms, and its flowers and leaves can never coexist. When the flowers open, the leaves fall, like the far shore of the afterlife, never to meet again. Its flower shape is one of a kind too, with petals curling open little by little, grand yet elegant, full of mystery.

When planting the red spider lily, there are a few things to keep in mind:

Before planting, we can first soak the bulb in rooting solution for a while, then put it in a ventilated spot. Be sure to let it dry before planting it in the pot, otherwise the whole plant will rot. When planting, note that the soil should be on the loose side, and do not bury the entire bulb. Let its sprouting point stay above the surface, otherwise it will struggle to produce a flower stem.

After planting, water it thoroughly once, then place it in a bright, ventilated spot and wait for it to root and sprout! Once it has sprouted, gradually increase watering and light. The red spider lily likes to live in a shady, moist environment, but it can also take sunlight, as long as it is not direct sun.

During its growing period, we can give it a little fertilizer about every half month, which promotes its growth. But under the high temperatures of summer, it will also enter a dormant state. At that point, reduce watering and light; its growth will also be slower, so we need to be patient!

If you notice it starting to drop leaves, and they are not falling because the leaves have turned yellow and died, that means you have grown it very successfully. At this point, give it a water supplement, and you will soon see it bloom.
