Summer really does arrive without warning, and the Curator hasn't had enough of spring yet!

Recently, whenever I open my social feed, it's all Anessa sunscreen. A 60 ml sunscreen for 200 to 300 yuan.

The Curator wants to ask, is this sunscreen made of gold to be so expensive?

But then I look back at my dark arms left over from last summer, grit my teeth and stomp my foot, and from then on the Curator goes out covered head to toe in a protective layer of money! Even my voice sounds more confident!

Then I think again, oh no, the season when the succulents suffer has come around again. At this thought, the Curator really wants to cry.

My sun protection can be solved with yuan, but sunburn on succulents is no small problem

Today the Curator is going to walk everyone through the issue of succulent sunburn. After all, we just shared about sun protection last week, so if an accident happens you won't be at a loss for what to do

What situations of sunburn commonly happen to succulents?

1. Relatively mild: surface sunburn, leaving scars on the succulent leaves, usually at the more delicate spots, the leaf tips or the leaf centers.

a. Like this Echeveria runyonii 'Topsy Turvy', the leaf tips and edges are sunburned black

b. Echeveria pulvinata 'Frosty', this is also sunburn, with the added effect of insecticide

c. Sedum rubrotinctum (Jelly Beans), the most awkward of all: in summer, without sun it goes green and leggy, and with sun it usually leaves some marks

d. Graptoveria 'Titubans' (White Peony), this kind of sunburn is at least acceptable

2. Moderate sunburn: the leaf tissue itself is sunburned. This usually happens because water droplets left on the leaves intensify the effect of the light.

a. Kalanchoe luciae (Paddle Plant), half the leaf is basically sunburned away

b. Kalanchoe beharensis 'Fang' (Thousand Rabbit Ears), sunburned into a scorched patch of scars

3. Severe sunburn: leaves turn to mush and rot black. Because of strong light, the chances of mushiness and black rot are much higher, so paying attention to shade and ventilation in summer really is the right thing to do.

a. Sedum morganianum (Burro's Tail) was kept in the sun the whole time, and the leaves finally turned to mush, probably also related to having just been watered two days ago.

b. Pachyphytum oviferum (Moonstones), the stem was sunburned black directly, related to moisture left between the leaves

What to do when sunburn appears?

Pay attention to shade and ventilation, and stop recklessly leaving them in the sun.

If there are leaves that have turned to mush, be sure to remove them immediately to avoid the situation getting worse and worse, and the same goes for black rot. If there is still time to save it, dig out the black rot.

Can sunburn recover?

Sunburn is irreversible!

Sunburn is irreversible!

Sunburn is irreversible!

If it's sunburned to the point of mushiness and black rot, it's already good if a little life remains.

If it's sunburn spots, the spots generally remain permanently, but sometimes the traces of the spots fade over time.

Sunburn doesn't only happen in summer. Everyone must also be familiar with the term "autumn tiger".

For now, let's just stress these points to everyone. So sunburn must be prevented in advance; the methods for remedying it afterward are actually very limited, and at best they can only keep the situation from getting worse rather than make the sunburn recover.

I hope everyone can get through this summer safe and sound.
