Soil: To grow Dracaena fragrans, it is best to use loose, humus-containing, well-draining acidic soil. Watering: During the growing period, water thoroughly to keep the soil moist. Light: Maintain ample sunlight in spring, autumn and winter, and in summer avoid direct strong light. Temperature: 20-30°C. In addition, prune it in good time and prevent and control common pests and diseases.

1. Soil

Dracaena fragrans is not demanding about soil, but to help it grow better, it is best to use loose, humus-containing, well-draining acidic soil.

2. Watering

During the growing period of Dracaena fragrans, water thoroughly to keep the soil moist; insufficient watering will lead to poor growth, so be sure to water thoroughly. After autumn begins, control the amount of watering; in winter, be sure to reduce watering or stop watering, because too much water will cause the roots to rot.

3. Light

Dracaena fragrans is very shade-tolerant, and it likes sunlight. If sunlight is insufficient, the leaves will turn yellow and the leaf markings will easily disappear. Maintain ample sunlight in spring, autumn and winter, and in summer avoid direct strong light so the leaves are not scorched. When grown indoors, place it in a bright spot with sunlight.

4. Temperature

Dracaena fragrans needs a growing environment of 20-30°C; if the temperature is suitable, it grows all year round. In winter, the temperature should be kept above 5°C; if the temperature is too low, yellow-brown spots will appear at the leaf tips. When the summer temperature is high, shade it appropriately and spray water around it to lower the temperature.

5. Points to note

1. Dracaena fragrans grows into a large plant; when it grows too tall, the leaves will drop off, which seriously affects its appearance. Therefore, prune it in good time, which will improve its ornamental effect and also encourage new branches to grow.

2. It can be attacked by leaf spot disease and stem rot. After the disease occurs, spray wettable chlorothalonil or wettable thiophanate-methyl for prevention and control.
