Keep a pot of bird of paradise at home, its blooms are ethereal and especially brilliant
Bird of paradise is the crane flower (Strelitzia reginae), and its name is especially poetic. The plant has graceful lines and a noble form, paired with the enchanting, magical crane-like flower; anyone who sees it will fall in love with it at first sight. Placed indoors, it accents the home and beautifies the environment, a true visual delight!
Growing habits of the bird of paradise
The bird of paradise likes warm, humid environments with good light. 20-25°C is fairly suitable, and the soil should be loose and airy, and should not become waterlogged. It can bloom in all four seasons, and its flowering period is fairly long.
Choosing a pot
The bird of paradise has thick, fleshy roots, so it is suitable to choose a fairly large and deep container to grow it in; this way the roots can stretch out freely and breathe, and once the roots are strong, the plant grows vigorously. The bird of paradise grows vigorously, and if you are not careful it will burst your pot, so use a larger container to grow it.
Soil mix
Mix leaf mold and garden soil at a ratio of 3:5, and spread a layer of coarse sand or coal cinders at the bottom of the pot to increase its water permeability. In the middle of the potting soil you can also add a layer of your own composted organic fertilizer to extend fertility, but it must not be placed against the roots, to avoid burning them.
Light
The bird of paradise is fairly light-loving; if placed in the living room, choose a spot that receives plenty of sunlight and bright indirect light. It cannot be kept in a dark place for a long time, as the plant will then grow rather thin and weak, and grow slowly. It is fairly tolerant of high temperatures; in summer, place it in a ventilated, airy spot, give it some sunlight, and it will grow splendidly. Avoid strong direct light, to prevent sunburn.
Watering
The bird of paradise likes a humid environment, but avoid both drought and waterlogging. If the soil stays waterlogged and wet for a long time, the roots rot easily, and with long-term drought and lack of water, the leaves curl and turn yellow. Watering should be decided by yourself according to the climate, temperature, air humidity and soil drainage, and it is enough to keep it alternating between dry and moist. But it must be placed in a ventilated spot!
Fertilizing
During the growing season, you can use a few granules of compound fertilizer each month, dissolve them in water, and pour it around the potting soil. You can also use cake fertilizer water once or twice a month to water it, or your own composted fertilizer water, all are fine, but the fertilizer must not be too concentrated.
Keep a pot of bird of paradise at home, its meaning is very auspicious: a bird that can fly toward heaven, no matter when, no matter where, never forget that the one you love is waiting for you
