Geraniums bloom big and beautiful, with a huge number of varieties and a dazzling array of flower colors; a snapped branch stuck in soil will take root, and the geranium is a full-sun flower that blooms more vigorously the more it is sunned - you could say it is both pretty and easy to grow.

Geraniums have very strong adaptability to their environment; when grown in pots they need hardly any management and suit extensive care. They are fairly heat-tolerant and sun-tolerant, and you need to guarantee at least 6 hours of light a day for them to bloom abundantly, with blossoms that are both vivid and large.

Key care points for potted geraniums:

1. Geraniums like dryness and cannot tolerate waterlogging, so water by the rule of "water when dry, stop when wet"; soggy potting soil easily causes root rot. Generally, only during the vigorous growth of geraniums in spring and autumn can watering be increased a little. Between June and July, geraniums enter a semi-dormant state, and at this time watering must be strictly controlled, just enough to keep the potting soil slightly dry.

2. Plenty of sunlight helps geraniums bloom. In the three seasons of spring, autumn and winter, give them as much full sun as possible; in summer, when the high temperature exceeds 36°C, shade them appropriately to prevent overly strong sunlight from damaging the flowers and leaves of the geranium.

3. Because the surface of geranium leaves has a lot of fine fuzz, we should not spray water on its leaves the way we do with pothos, and even less should we let it be rained on.

4. Geraniums grow very fast and bloom a lot, but if you want them to bloom more and more vigorously, you need to repot them every year. Generally, August to September is the best time to repot, as the flowering period has passed by then and the weather is cool, not too hot and humid.

Moreover, propagating geraniums is very simple: cut a vigorously growing branch from the top and use it for cuttings, and it will easily survive, rooting in about 2 weeks - you could say it is a flowering plant that is both easy to grow and beautiful.
