Encouraging everyone to eat more whole grains, free field turtle giveaway 2018-05-25 Field Turtle news release

"Grain in Ear" (Mangzhong) is the dividing point in the crop planting calendar. The Field Turtle Project plans to continue the agricultural solar term custom by designating "Grain in Ear Day" as "Whole Grain Day," encouraging people across the country to eat more whole grains on "Whole Grain Day" and stay healthy. In 2018, "Grain in Ear Day" falls on June 6.

The Field Turtle Project is a plan by Huang Qingxiang, a retired professor from National Sun Yat-sen University, to give back to his hometown, protect the land, and promote health and good deeds. It has been carried out for seven years in Jiushe, Erlin, Changhua, organically growing various health-promoting whole grains, especially the superfoods of the times: amaranth, chia, and red quinoa.

On October 4, 2010, under the guidance of the Bureau of Health Promotion and with the assistance of the John Tung Foundation, the Field Turtle Project held the first Whole Grain Exhibition at Plaza 2 of the East District Underground Street of the Taipei MRT. The goal was to connect "whole grain diets" with "whole grain small farmers," letting consumers know the four Ws: "what are whole grains," "why eat whole grains," "how to eat whole grains," and "where to buy whole grains."

In 2018, the concept of health-promoting whole grains gradually spread among the people for healthy eating. To further promote healthy eating and eating more health-promoting whole grains, the Field Turtle Project extended "Whole Grain Day" into "Whole Grain Week," June 4-10. Anyone who visits the Field Turtle garden area that week can receive a free 500-gram pack of health-promoting whole grains.

To visit, please first contact Teacher Huang, host of the Field Turtle Project, at 0921-841761 [email protected], or join the Field Turtle group on Line with your mobile phone.
