Everyone is fairly familiar with cacti. They have formidable survival abilities and simply cannot be killed no matter how you mistreat them. No matter how harsh the environment, they can survive and bloom, and their flowers are all quite beautiful. But do you know how many varieties of cacti there are?

1. Green Prawn (Echinocereus)

The Green Prawn belongs to the Echinocereus genus of cacti. Does the name alone sound a bit odd? In fact, its flowers are incredibly beautiful. The blooms are fairly large, somewhat bell-shaped, and come in a wide range of colors - red, purple, yellow, green and more - all very stunning. It is also a very popular flowering plant!

Growing method:It likes a warm, dry environment. In summer, provide appropriate shade to avoid excessive sun exposure. It prefers loose, well-draining sandy soil. During the growing season, give it a light feeding once each in spring and autumn.

2. Bonfire (Echinocereus)

Bonfire also belongs to the Echinocereus genus of cacti. It is fairly simple to care for and produces red flowers that are quite fresh and lovely.

Growing method:It has fairly strong adaptability to its environment, but be careful to keep it warm and dry year-round. The minimum care temperature should stay above 3 degrees, and its location should receive plenty of sunlight.

3. Dawn (Trichocereus)

Dawn is a succulent in the Trichocereus genus. It is a relatively tall variety of cactus and blooms at the top of the plant, as if symbolizing hope. The flowers are also very large in shape and extremely eye-catching.

Growing method:Dawn is a very easy cactus to grow. It likes loose, well-draining sandy soil, does not need frequent watering, and simply needs plenty of sunlight and a well-ventilated environment.

4. Xiangnan Maru (Red Torch Cactus)

Xiangnan Maru is also called the Red Torch Cactus, because the flowers it produces are a very brilliant fiery red, extremely bright and beautiful. It also has very good cold tolerance and can withstand temperatures of minus five degrees. However, it differs from other cacti: in summer it needs watering, but just do not water too frequently or let water accumulate.

Growing method:It likes to grow in a sunny, well-ventilated environment. The growing medium should maintain good drainage and be mixed with an appropriate amount of grit to keep it loose and airy.

5. Cactus Mirror (Opuntia)

The Cactus Mirror is a very tall plant, but it is very easy to grow, so it is also quite suitable for beginners. Its leaves are fairly flat, somewhat like a green mirror. However, it produces red flowers at the top and also bears small fiery red fruits.

Growing method:To grow the Cactus Mirror, give it loose, well-draining sandy soil. The growing environment should be well-ventilated and warm and dry year-round. Avoid frequent watering, and keep the minimum care temperature above 3 degrees.

6. Rat Tail Cactus

The Rat Tail Cactus is rather special. It is generally grown in hanging baskets, and placing it on a windowsill or balcony is a good choice. The beautiful flowers accompanying the trailing stems have a distinctive charm of their own.

Growing method:It likes a warm, dry environment, so be sure to maintain good ventilation. However, in high temperatures you also need to provide shade.

Even a cactus covered in spines can have such a tender side. The flowers it produces are in no way inferior to other rare and precious flowering plants.
