A 4 sq m balcony can also become a mini garden. An elegant room need not be large; fragrant flowers need not be many.

After some effort, I have flower troughs, a flower rack, a swing, and a spot for reading and drinking tea, plus more than ten pots of flowers and plants. Being able to read and drink tea among the flowers is already a great satisfaction for me. An elegant room need not be large; fragrant flowers need not be many!

The balcony is semi-enclosed. Even a fully enclosed balcony can grow quite a few flowers, and if it faces south, there is plenty of sunlight. When the sunlight comes through and falls on the flowers, it feels wonderful. Look carefully and you will find that many flower lovers have enclosed balconies.

The balcony is very small. To make full use of this 4 sq m space, I even bought flower racks and nailed them to the wall. After some effort, I finally have flower beds, flower racks, a swing, and can even enjoy afternoon tea. It basically fulfills my dream and sentimental attachment regarding a small balcony!

The hollyhocks were not sown by me; I bought small seedlings and they grew and bloomed. Most of the other flowers were the same. Not many grown from seed reached bloom, because I previously used pond mud without knowing better, and the survival rate was very low.

A candlelit dinner is sometimes very interesting even when eaten alone.

The balcony is full of flowers, and every day I cut some to put on the dining table. Why need a man to send them? Hehe.

The table and chairs are from Taobao (seems to be IKEA style; two chairs and one table plus shipping was about 400 yuan or so), and the swing is also from Taobao.

A misty and rainy spring afternoon.

The swing chair cushion is moved back indoors when not in use. The swing frame is not afraid of rain; instead, the rain washes the dust off it. The table and chairs are usually kept indoors and only put on the balcony when I want to drink tea. Because the balcony is very small, having the table and chairs out usually makes it inconvenient to move around while tending the flowers and watering them.

Breakfast, afternoon tea, and dinner are all eaten on the balcony. When I stay at home, I spend my time reading on the balcony, occasionally looking up at the flowers, and I feel a little sense of accomplishment. Perhaps this is exactly the plain yet happy life I like!
