From May 22-26, 2018, one of the world's most famous and grandest horticultural exhibitions, the Chelsea Flower Show, was held as scheduled, and it is also London's most iconic annual event.

Chelsea Flower Show

Chelsea Flower Show

Show dates: May 22 to May 26

Tuesday to Friday 8am - 8pm

Saturday 8am - 5.30pm

Location: London Gate, Royal Hospital Road, Royal Hospital Chelsea, London, SW3 4SR

Originating in 1862, hosted by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), a worldwide "mysterious" organization whose core purpose is "dedicated to advancing the development of gardens and horticulture," the Chelsea Flower Show has a history of more than 150 years. It was initially held in Kensington (Kengsington), and since 1913 it has been moved to the Chelsea area of London.

Every May, London brings together works meticulously designed by floral artists from around the world, and it can be called the "Oscars of the floral art world."

In the UK, there is a popular saying: three things often cause traffic jams in London - first, the Queen going out; second, a victorious football team returning in triumph; and third, the Chelsea Flower Show (Chelsea Flower Show) opening to the public.

This shows that the Chelsea Flower Show has considerable appeal for British people as well as for many foreigners who love flowers and horticulture. And Her Majesty the Queen is an even more loyal fan of the Chelsea Flower Show, having personally attended the show 53 times, which is enough to show how important this flower show is in the hearts of British people.

Besides the British Queen, Charles, former Princess Diana, Prince William, Prince Harry, Princess Kate and others have all visited the Chelsea Flower Show.

This globally famous flower show displays not only fresh flowers, but also an exhibition of the floral art world that brings together new plant varieties, courtyard landscapes, and humanistic and environmentally friendly design concepts!

In addition to the several hundred horticultural/landscape creators who bring works every year, the flower show also gathers industry heavyweights: veteran of the landscape world and soul figure of the BBC "World Gardens" documentary series Monty Don, soul figure of the BBC documentary "Edible Garden" Alice Fowler, horticulturist and producer Alan Titchmarsh...

For all of you who love landscapes, especially horticultural flower borders, the Chelsea Flower Show is definitely a visual feast not to be missed, and of course it is also an effective way to learn flower border design and plant combinations!

As an annual horticultural feast, the theme of the UK Chelsea Flower Show is different every year. This year's exhibition will bring three major highlights, and 33 garden design works will be exhibited at the flower show, divided into five major categories:

Show fetures: Form Gardens

Artisan Gardens: Artisan Gardens

Feature Gardens: Feature Gardens

Show Gardens: Show Gardens

Space to grow: Space Gardens

Three major highlights

1. On the first evening of the opening, more visitors will have the chance to enjoy a nighttime stroll amid fragrance.

2. Innovative display gardens; this year the Grow gardens area will have 8 display areas.

3. Outdoor furniture displays will feature new style designs.

Some garden design works on display

1. Show fetures: Form Gardens

Grace Thorn The Great Geranium

This work is at the entrance, using brightly colored flowers to provide an intoxicating fragrance and a sensory experience of color. Like a colorful kaleidoscope, bright and beautiful, the design is inspired by Italian balconies and classic British terraces.

Hillier A Royal Celebration

Hilliard's Royal Celebration Garden welcomes visitors to the Grand Pavilion, this is the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Design rendering

At the center of the entrance is an impressive corten steel staircase, surrounded by beautiful flowers.

To commemorate all horticultural work and celebrate the British royal family, many white flowers were chosen for planting in the garden, presenting the wedding theme and expressing wishes for purity and beauty.

2. Artisan Gardens: Artisan Gardens

Epilepsy Patient Care Garden

In color psychology, green and white can give people a feeling of calm, which has a very good effect on treating epilepsy patients. At the same time, this garden can play a calming role for epilepsy patients in various states during temporary seizures.

Typical English Garden

The Claims Guys A Very English Garden

Designed byJanine Crimmins

Built byAndrew Loudon

Sponsored by The Claims Guys

Design rendering

The design inspiration for this garden comes from "celebrating the Arts and Crafts movement." The stone landscape becomes the focal point of the garden, withstanding the test of time and aesthetics.

Garden of Hope

Laced With Hope Garden

Designed by Laura Anstiss

Built by Frosts Landscape Construction

Sponsored by Frosts Garden Centres

Design rendering

The most eye-catching feature of this garden is that brightly colored wall, as well as the gorgeous flowers. In addition, sculptures are used extensively, and the shapes of the plants were also selected with special care.

These plants that guide people's vision upward, the brilliant colors, and the human figure sculptures looking up into the sky - could the meaning contained in them be the hope expressed by the garden's name?

Warner Edwards Garden

The Warner Edwards Garden

Designed by Kate Savill and Tamara Bridge

Built by Frogheath Landscapes

Sponsored by Warner Edwards

The inspiration for this garden work comes from the terraced garden of the Warner Edwards distillery and the beautiful scenery of Northamptonshire, with the aim of pursuing vibrant nature and English rural life.

In the selection of plants for planting, elements such as the distillery's botanical garden and shrub walls were used as references, so the garden displays many natural materials used for making gin and applications of brewing elements.

The above is a detailed introduction to some of the design works at the Chelsea Flower Show. As for the other design works, let us wait and see together.

Go visit the Chelsea Flower Show in May, let yourself be intoxicated in a sea of flowers, and use the flower show to open a British summer full of hope.
