How do you prevent root rot in hydroponic flowers? These few methods are very practical
Hydroponic plants are, simply put, lazy-person plants, because growing them in water is simple and they look quite attractive, so many people like to keep a few pots. Water quality problems, temperatures that are too low, fertilizer that is too concentrated, pests and diseases, and so on can all lead to root rot. There are several things to pay attention to in order to prevent root rot.1. Depth of roots and stems in the water
The roots and stems of hydroponic plants cannot all be soaked in water, as this will prevent the root system from carrying out respiration and easily cause root rot. Generally, leave half of them above the water surface, so there is enough oxygen to provide for root respiration and reduce the occurrence of root rot.
2. Suitable temperature
Generally, the suitable temperature for hydroponic plants is around 20°C. When the temperature is too high, they can be moved to a shady spot.
3. Change the water frequently
With hydroponic plants, be sure to change the water frequently to keep the water clean. If the water is not changed for a long time, the water quality deteriorates, becomes cloudy, and lacks oxygen, which can lead to root rot. In summer, when temperatures are high and harmful bacteria multiply quickly, change the water about once every 3 to 4 days; in other seasons, the frequency of water changes can be appropriately reduced. Each time you change the water, tidy up the roots along the way, and promptly clean away any old, weak, or rotten roots.
4. Light
Hydroponic plants also need to be guaranteed sufficient light, as only then can the plants grow healthily and the probability of illness be reduced.
5. Fertilizing
Proper fertilizing can make hydroponic plants grow better and their root systems stronger. Commonly used hydroponic nutrient solution is enough; use the concentration according to the instructions.
