A pot of lush, elegantly upright asparagus fern placed on a desk brings a good deal of coolness. Below are some successful tips for growing asparagus fern.

In late March, the asparagus fern can be moved outdoors to receive full light, with no need for shading. Whether the potting soil needs watering can be determined by the daily weather conditions and the dryness or moisture of the potting soil, while a misting once in the morning and once in the evening is done almost every day. Apply fertiliser water (urea solution can be used) once a week.

From early May to late August, the plant needs indirect sunlight or shading, and must not be exposed to direct sun. Water once every 2-3 days, and sprinkle water around the surrounding environment more often to raise the air humidity. In this way, the asparagus fern can maintain vigorous growth. The author's room faces east and has no air conditioning; each year the plant is moved indoors to protect it from the summer heat, and after a long time the leaves tend to turn yellow. Moving it outdoors and placing it under a tree, it returns to normal after a period of time. In addition, the plant must not be placed under an air conditioner to be blown by the wind, as this easily causes yellowing of the leaves.

From September to November, move the plant out from under the tree and place it directly on a platform, turning the pot once a week; the management of fertiliser water is the same as the spring care.

In late November, apply a potassium fertiliser once.

In December, move it indoors, water once every half a month (by the soak-pot method), use fluorescent lamps to supplement light on overcast and rainy days, and mist once every two or three days.
