Many flower lovers enjoy growing succulents, not just for their adorable looks, but perhaps more because they are easy to care for. However, even this easiest-to-grow plant can run into quite a few problems in summer, the most common being root rot and turning to mush. If you do run into this situation, don't worry - learn the methods below to save them.

The reason succulents turn to mush in summer is mostly because high temperatures and damp heat cause the succulent itself to desperately absorb water, and absorbing too much water leads to turning to mush. Actually, succulents are more like a foolish child, thinking they need to drink more water when it's hot; due to misjudging how much water to absorb and failing to get it right, they end up bloating themselves to death.

So in summer, succulents definitely must not be watered too much, and they need to be moved to a cool, ventilated place, so that even if the succulent is foolish, it won't absorb too much water. If the leaves of the succulent have already turned to mush, we just pull them off directly to prevent them from infecting each other. If the roots have rotted, it's mostly beyond saving, but we can pull off the intact leaves for cuttings to propagate, and before long you'll have pots of healthy succulents.

Since succulents turning to mush often occurs in summer, preparations for prevention and treatment should be made before summer arrives. Before the high temperatures come, you can apply some phosphorus and potassium fertilizer to the succulents to improve their resistance; when watering, mix an appropriate amount of fungicide into the water to purify the soil's internal environment and reduce the sources of bacteria in the soil, which can effectively inhibit succulents from turning to mush.
