Amaryllis, also known as red flower lily, has a nearly spherical bulb, ideally 6-8 glossy green leaves, and large, vivid flowers of very high ornamental value. It is suitable for placing in corridors, living rooms and similar spots, and carries the meaning of pursuing love.

Today Huar introduces some tips for caring for amaryllis, so its leaves grow large and plump and its flowers bloom vividly!

Amaryllis is a fertilizer-loving plant; with enough nutrients it can grow very fast. However, when fertilizing, do not use too much nitrogen fertilizer; phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should dominate, even during the growing season.

You can bury a little bone meal in the amaryllis pot. Besides phosphorus and potassium, bone meal also contains some calcium, zinc and other elements, which let amaryllis grow better and form buds and bloom. Dig a few small holes around the edge of the pot, then put in 2-3g of bone meal, cover with soil, and water thoroughly. If there are many roots, you can scatter it directly on the potting soil, then water thoroughly and let it slowly seep into the soil, applying once a month.

Note one thing: stop fertilizing when amaryllis is blooming, otherwise the flowers will fade faster.

Amaryllis likes light and can take some direct sunlight, but not for too long, otherwise dried tips, yellow leaves and similar problems appear. During the growing season, it is best to place it on a south-facing balcony or windowsill, where light is ample while direct sunlight is avoided.

Amaryllis likes moisture but cannot tolerate waterlogging. You can keep the potting soil slightly moist; when the soil shows signs of turning white, water thoroughly. Normally you can spray some water mist on the leaves to increase humidity.

Because amaryllis grows very fast, many small bulbs will grow around the top, and you need to divide and replant them, otherwise they will compete for nutrients, which is bad for growth and blooming; otherwise, simply remove all those small bulbs.

That is all for amaryllis care. If fellow flower lovers have other additions, you can share them with everyone in the comment section below. To learn more about growing flowers, you can follow Huajianke!
