If your balcony at home has enough space, or even a terrace or rooftop, you can not only grow flowers and vegetables, but also grow some potted fruit trees. Picking and eating them whenever you want is wonderful. If there's no soil, you can dig some up yourself. Potted oranges, potted peaches, lemons, figs, blueberries, and strawberries can all produce fruit. The process is fun, and the plants bear lots of fruit. So how exactly do you grow potted fruit trees at home?

1. Prepare suitable flower pots and soil. Choose larger pots. Except for strawberries, which can use smaller pots, other plants need pots at least 30 cm in diameter. Clay pots and plastic pots are more breathable than porcelain pots.

2. As for soil, soil from the countryside will do. Add some leaf mold, sand, coal cinders, cow manure, chicken manure, and such to make it more breathable, fertile, and loose.

3. When choosing seedlings, you can go to a flower and bird market, or a vegetable market in a small city, because you can directly see the condition of the seedlings. Choose seedlings with relatively strong root systems.

For potted oranges, it's best to choose small varieties like sugar mandarins or kumquats - ones that are too large aren't as good. Figs don't need to be bought; you can just use cuttings from branches, and they'll take root, sprout, grow, and bear fruit. For grape seedlings, it's slightly better to choose larger ones for earlier fruiting. For potted lemons, you can also choose larger seedlings, which are easier to keep alive.

4. After planting potted fruit trees, water them thoroughly. If it's an enclosed balcony, be sure to open the windows for ventilation. You can plant in both spring and autumn. After planting, wait a week before exposing them to light and sun.

5. After that, water whenever the soil looks almost dry. Fertilize more before growth and flowering, using a small amount each time. When the plant grows larger, transfer it to a correspondingly larger pot. Prune what needs pruning. It's quite easy to care for.

6. Ensure sufficient light and good ventilation. If you have a balcony, be sure to place them near the window. If you have a terrace or rooftop, be sure to place them on the terrace or rooftop. Outdoor growing will make potted fruit trees grow with fatter branches and stronger leaves, and produce more flowers and fruit.

Being able to eat fruit you've grown with your own hands feels really wonderful.
