Recently, the weather has been getting hotter and hotter, and many rose pests and diseases have begun to break out, such as red spider mites, flower thrips, black spot, and so on.
When faced with these rose pests and diseases, we still need to spray pesticides in time to treat and prevent them. Today what Lan Yao wants to talk about is a few precautions for spraying.
The above is a question asked by a flower friend in Lan Yao's reader group. From the picture, it can be seen that many tender buds have begun to turn black.
The leaves also show mottled scorched patches, and the leaf tips have turned yellow too. These symptoms all appeared after spraying, so it is clear that they were caused by the pesticide concentration being too high.So how should you spray in order to avoid pesticide damage?First, pay attention to the concentration of the pesticide.Controlling the concentration is the key to avoiding pesticide damage. Generally, the packaging of pesticides has instructions for the mixing concentration, but most are calculated by mu.
Because pesticides were previously used for large-area crops, the unit of calculation is also by mu. For our home flowers, this calculation method is too large in scale. If you have good arithmetic skills, of course you can convert and calculate it, but if you are like Lan Yao and not great at math, then you can only estimate it yourself.
If you do not know how to calculate the concentration, how should you mix it?If you, like Lan Yao, do not know how to calculate the concentration, then the safe approach is to test it first. Generally, the concentration we use for fertilizing is above 2000 times, and you can also refer to this concentration when mixing pesticide.
First mix a concentration of about 2000 times and spray a single plant, then observe the effect. If it improves, you can continue spraying this concentration every few days. If there is no sign of improvement, then you need to increase the concentration and try again.
Precautions when spraying pesticide:When spraying pesticide, first pay attention to personal safety protection. It is best to wear gloves, a mask, and long-sleeved clothes and long pants. When spraying pesticide outdoors, be careful to stand on the upwind side. Do not spray pesticide on windy days. Not only should you pay attention to personal safety protection, but the amount of pesticide sprayed should also be controlled, and spraying should be as even as possible. Both the front and back of the leaves should be sprayed.
When spraying, move at as even a speed as possible, and avoid staying in the same position for too long, which can easily lead to excessive pesticide residue and fertilizer damage. Usually, when the concentration ratio is moderate, spray until the leaves are dripping.
Lan Yao suggests that when spraying pesticide, not only should the rose plant be sprayed, but the surface of the potting soil should also be sprayed, to kill bacteria and pests staying on the surface of the potting soil.
