There is no fixed time for succulent leaf cuttings to sprout. Some succulents are fast and can grow roots and sprout in a week, while some do not grow roots or sprout even after three months! Below, Xiaoyu talks about her own leaf cutting experience, mainly around time, temperature, soil, water, and intact leaves, these aspects. It can be said to be an 80 percent success rate! Below are all my own leaf cuttings.

First is time and temperature

For succulent leaf cuttings, you must choose the right time. If you do not choose the right time in the first half of the year, the leaf cuttings will turn to mush! If the time is wrong in the second half of the year, the leaf cuttings will not sprout for a long time, and the leaves will dry and flatten! The best temperature for leaf cuttings is between 15-28. Whether in the first half or the second half of the year, at this temperature even the hardest-to-sprout Echeveria 'Purpusorum' and Graptopetalum 'Grape' leaves will take root and sprout.

Next is soil and water

Before leaf cuttings have grown roots, any soil is fine, but the soil must be kept slightly moist. This way they sprout faster, and delicate succulent leaves are less likely to turn to mush. For example, peach egg leaves and ruby leaves, these two are especially delicate. If the soil is too wet, you can be sure three out of five leaves will turn to mush. The soil must not be too wet or dry! Such soil has no appeal.

What is left is intact leaves!

Succulent leaves must be guaranteed to be healthy, with an intact sprouting point! This way they can sprout faster. Unhealthy leaves, no matter where they are placed, will either dry out or turn to mush, and are just not easy to sprout.

Which leaves sprout quickly?

Crassulaceae sprout the fastest. In half a month, you can see most healthy leaves sprout and take root. For example, Pachyphytum compactum, Sedum adolphi, Echeveria 'Afterglow', Echeveria 'Afterglow' crest, Sedum nussbaumerianum, Echeveria 'Ghost Princess', Echeveria 'Nicksana',,

The slow-sprouting ones, Echeveria 'Purpusorum', Echeveria 'Ebony', Echeveria 'Romeo', Graptopetalum 'Grape', if the temperature is wrong for these, the leaves can be left for half a year and still not grow roots or sprout.
