Reasons for Yellowing Agave Leaves and How to Fix Them
1. Prune in time
If the drying and yellowing is caused by natural reasons. In autumn and winter, old leaves will turn yellow and dry out for natural reasons. At this time, you only need to cut off the withered yellow leaves, control the temperature, let it get some sun, and spray some fungicide to sterilize it.
2. Increase light
It is a plant that likes to grow in semi-shady places, but sufficient sunlight is also essential. A lack of sunlight will cause the leaves to turn yellow and dry out. In spring and autumn, do not place it directly in the sun. When the sunlight is especially strong in summer, it needs shading.
3. Water reasonably
It is afraid of too much water. If the soil it is planted in stays very wet, it is very easy to cause root rot. Once the roots rot, the leaves will turn yellow. At this point, take it out of the soil, wash the rotten parts clean, sun-dry it for a day, then replace it with new soil, replant it, and keep the soil in the pot merely moist.
4. Prevent and treat disease
If its leaves turn yellow and dry out, it may also be caused by anthracnose. When the disease occurs, pale green spots appear on the leaves, which gradually turn dark brown later, and finally cause the entire leaf to wither, yellow, and rot. When this problem occurs, promptly use medication to treat anthracnose, place it in a cool and windy place, and increase nutrients rich in phosphorus and potassium elements to improve its ability to resist disease. For leaves that have already rotted, remove them promptly to prevent the pathogen from affecting other healthy branches and leaves.
