The amaryllis plant is very beautiful, and its blooms are gorgeous. When it flowers, the blossoms are large and vivid. Amaryllis is relatively easy to care for, and the bulb below looks a bit like an onion. One thing that worries people about amaryllis is that it won't bloom, and when it doesn't bloom, its beauty is greatly diminished. So if the amaryllis you're growing never blooms, you first need to find the right cause and treat the problem according to that cause.

For newly potted amaryllis, be careful not to bury the bulb entirely in the soil

If you want your amaryllis to bloom, one thing you must pay close attention to when it is first potted is not burying the entire amaryllis bulb in the soil. If it is buried completely, it is very prone to growing only leaves and not blooming. So when caring for it, leave half or three-quarters of the bulb above the potting soil. When watering, you don't need to water too much; keeping it slightly moist is enough.

Improper choice of potting soil for amaryllis

An improper choice of potting soil for amaryllis can very likely cause it not to bloom, and if the potting soil is unsuitable, not only will it fail to bloom, it will also tend to grow poorly. So when caring for amaryllis, if you want it to bloom, choose soil that is loose, breathable and well-draining. This lets its roots grow better, which makes the plant grow more vigorously and makes it more likely to bloom.

When choosing potting soil, you can use garden soil plus some river sand, perlite, etc., and add some base fertilizer. This base fertilizer can better promote amaryllis blooming.

Improper watering of amaryllis leads to no blooming

If amaryllis is watered improperly, whether too much or too little, it will fail to bloom. Too much water easily causes waterlogging in the potting soil, leading to root rot in the amaryllis, while too little water leaves the amaryllis lacking and growing poorly, so it won't bloom. So when growing amaryllis, wait until the potting soil has dried out before watering, and water thoroughly in one go. If the weather changes a lot, adjust appropriately according to the weather conditions. If the bulb has a cut, be careful not to pour water on the cut when watering, otherwise it is very prone to root rot.
