Many flower lovers enjoy growing jasmine in pots, because jasmine blooms with a strong fragrance, pure white flowers, and beautiful blossoms. Placed on a balcony, you can not only enjoy the floral scent but also brew the flowers as tea. Today, the editor will explain to friends who love growing jasmine what problems you may encounter during the growing process, and their solutions, so everyone can grow their plants well.
Yellow leaves on jasmine are the most common problem. The causes of yellowing leaves are roughly as follows: overwatering, soil that is too alkaline, and insufficient nutrient supply. For most potted jasmine, if there is no large-scale leaf drop or yellowing, applying some fertilizer and moving it to a spot with better light for a period of time will let it grow normally again. If there is large-scale leaf drop, then it is time to repot, as root rot may have already begun.
Jasmine blooms little. Generally, jasmine that has only recently been grown blooms relatively little. If a jasmine that has been grown for several years still produces relatively few flowers, then it may be because you have not pruned it regularly. We can cut off those diseased, old, and weak branches, and we must promptly cut off branches that have already bloomed. After this simple pruning, you will find that your jasmine has lush branches and leaves, and blooms even more flowers.
Jasmine flowers are small. With normal fertilization and sufficient sunlight, the flowers generally will not be too small. However, some varieties naturally have relatively large flowers, such as the Tiger Head jasmine in the picture, which is a variety grown by many gardening friends. It has strong drought tolerance, opposite leaves, dark green leaf color, and thick, glossy leaves. The flower buds are ovate, with a relatively flat or slightly pointed top. The flowers are pure white, and the fragrance is rather intense.
Growing jasmine well is actually very simple. As long as potted jasmine is cared for properly and managed well, it can bloom three times a year, blooming continuously from the end of May to the beginning of November. Friends who enjoy drinking flower tea can enjoy homegrown jasmine for half a year.
