The Most Beautiful Expectation
The Most Beautiful Expectation

When I saw the inns in Lijiang Old Town filled with colorful cute succulents all over the courtyard, I thought it was unbelievable, the colors were so gorgeous! In pots, in the ground, on the eaves, succulents were everywhere! Such tiny succulents could actually be this beautiful? When I got back and searched on Taobao and Baidu, succulents were already at ordinary people's prices, and I immediately fell into the succulent pit, unable to pull myself out. Next came buy, buy, buy! Pots, soil, succulents, an endless cycle! No matter how much I bought, it was never enough. With succulents I lacked soil, with soil I lacked pots. It was practically an addiction.
Apart from work every day, all my time was spent on succulents. The craziest time, I once spent as long as seven hours repotting and changing the soil in one go! From six in the afternoon until one thirty in the morning. My husband asked me if I was tired. I answered: Tired! But tired and happy! Any worries drift away with the wind the moment I see succulents. Five words float across the sky: None of that is a big deal!
I do not have a villa rooftop, no sunroom, no big garden, and everything I grow is common mass-market stuff. All I have is a heart that loves succulents! I carry my more than one hundred pots of succulents around looking for the sun! Hiding from the sun! Yet I am always perfectly content! I always believe: facing the sea, there will definitely be spring blossoms! As long as you show enough sincerity and wait patiently, it will surely not let down the years or let you down, and will show you its beauty. All right, enough talking. My writing is not good and typing is hard work, so everyone just make do and read. Let us open with a fiery red Firecracker, and I hope everyone can be prosperous all year round!
Life is never unremarkable just because it is plain, just like the most ordinary Echeveria chihuahuensis, ordinary yet still shining with its own incomparable beauty! Late autumn dew is its best makeup, and its red tips are breathtakingly beautiful!
For Tia, I have zero resistance! Common Tia, Flame Tia, I have bought countless ones, and I love that touch of red the most.
Red Ruby is also a representative of the Crassulaceae family. It can be grown cheaply and also gets through summer well. In seasons with large temperature differences, it is like bright red rubies one after another, and it is also a super prolific pup producer.
Still red. Yes, I just love that fiery red color. Red Berry, each one crystal clear, makes you want to bite right into it. The juice must be very sweet. Forgive me for exposing my foodie nature again!
Zile, a variety that never disappoints you, beautiful purple all year round, and especially outstanding in winter!
Still Echeveria chihuahuensis, I cannot love you enough!
Also Echeveria chihuahuensis. You cannot get enough of it either, right? It really is very beautiful! Echeveria chihuahuensis, Peach, Lindsay, I am silly and cannot tell them apart, so let us just say I have one of each. Anyway, when they are beautiful, they all look the same, haha!
Dancing Sunset, also a variety I super like. When the whole balcony is green, it still stands quietly wearing its purple sunset robe. Look, is it not even more delicate under the morning dew!
First Love! Just hearing the name makes you want to have this variety. After all, who has not had this name? Of course, what I like more is its looks!
Many friends, when they see this photo, their first sentence is always: Is this not Guanyin's lotus seat! Shining with golden light! With its own halo! Radiant! All the words of praise are for you.
Tia, although common, is still beautiful once it has color!
Yanrihui, it came as a free gift. Not only does it establish in the pot quickly, it immediately gives you color! An especially, especially tenacious fellow!
Giant baby Echeveria chihuahuensis, some also say it is Lindsay. I do not want to distinguish the variety. Anyway, they are all treasures of my heart! Loved the same!
The big silly Orion, producing ring after ring of little pups. As captain of the over-breeding guerrilla team, it is second to none!
Water Lily, it seems it has never been brought into good color. All year round it is like this, half red and not green, and it is also easy to grow! I feel that what I like are all super tenacious life forms!
The little jade-like White Peony, planted in a small-mouthed pot, standing out all alone.
Comic Tom, chubby and round, very cute! Its powdered little face is white with a touch of red!
White Beauty, this must be a beauty from the Tang Dynasty, also round and plump. At a glance, it is on the same level as Yang Guifei.
Still Flame Tia. It faded after being rained on, but in the sunny green grass it is still very eye-catching!
Allen, a common variety that can rival Peach Egg. A connoisseur saw it and said it came from a water cutting. Who cares what kind of cutting it is, as long as it can stay this beautiful forever, that is enough. It is also a little expert at producing pups, especially that cut-off stem, which produced six heads, tender pink and adorable!
I also super like the Aeonium series. I am slowly collecting varieties. This one is Halloween! Spring has arrived and it has some color now. I look forward to summer coming; it will surely be stunningly beautiful!
Halloween
I can never remember the name of this one. Purple Velvet? Copper Kettle? It seems neither. It should be Aeonium arboreum 'Zwartkop'.
Green Velvet, not green, and the color is very nice!
That one whose name I cannot remember, anyway it looks good!
Pansy, so far I have only seen green!
One of the Thin-Leaf Three Immortals, and also a big, big, big girl. Going back and forth between outdoor growing and indoor growing! The color is dirty and not very immortal-looking anymore. One day I will give it a bath and put on its makeup!
Clustered Echeveria 'Nucifera', its looks are on point, cheering for you! Paired casually with an unglazed pot, it is also very outstanding!
Blue Elf, is it also Blue Apple? Do the dew threads on the red tips connect into your heart?
Orange Monroe, still establishing in the pot. I have seen masters' Orange Monroe, beautiful beyond the horizon. I hope I can also bring out its best color!
Red Pink Beauty, compared with the flamboyant red of Firecracker, this little cutie is much more fresh and refined!
Since falling in love with succulents, I have also met many succulent friends from all over the world. Discussing succulent-growing experiences together and sharing beautiful succulent photos has also brought me a lot. Here I especially want to thank Sister Qing, a master of the Shanxi balcony growers' group, for her selfless sharing. She taught me many succulent-growing techniques and helped me avoid many detours. A thumbs-up for Sister Qing!
Succulents have always been my most beautiful expectation!
