How to grow roses? Detailed explanation of care methods and techniques

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
Growing roses requires loose, well-draining soil with good aeration. Water and fertilizer should not be excessive; apply a light water-and-fertilizer mix about once every 15 days. Give them at least 4 hours of sunlight daily. They can be propagated by seed sowing and division. In addition, you need to prevent and control pests and diseases.

I. Growing environment

1. Soil: Choose soil suitable for rose growth; generally use loose, well-draining soil with good aeration.

2. Watering: Do not water roses too much. Frequent watering will cause root rot, especially in humid rainy weather, so the amount of watering must be controlled well.

3. Fertilizing: Apply light fertilizer. Applying concentrated fertilizer will burn the roots. Apply a light water-and-fertilizer mix about once every 15 days; fermented rice-washing water can be used. Generally, if the leaves are brightly colored, there is no need to fertilize.

4. Light: Rose growth requires sufficient light; give them at least 4 hours of sunlight daily. If they are kept for a long time in a place with poor ventilation, the leaves will turn yellow. When the temperature is low, it is best to place them indoors near a window.

II. Propagation methods

1. Seed propagation: Put the collected seeds in a bag filled with sandy soil. After one month, raise the temperature to 20°C. Once the seeds germinate, they can be sown. When the seedlings grow 3-5 small leaves, they can be transplanted.

2. Division propagation: Mound soil around the base of the rose so that each branch grows new roots. When repotting, cut apart the side branches that have grown new roots, and they will become new plants.

III. Common pests and diseases

1. Scale insects: Once they appear, they are very difficult to deal with. Usually keep the plant in a well-ventilated place, appropriately prune excess branches, strengthen ventilation, and make sure there is no standing water in the potting soil. When spots appear on the branches, scrape them off promptly. If the infestation is severe, cut off the entire branch and also spray with pesticides.

2. Powdery mildew: After being affected, the leaves will become raised and covered with a white powdery substance. In severe cases, a layer of mold will appear on the flower buds and stems. Spray pesticides regularly, and immediately cut off the affected branches and leaves to reduce the chance of spreading the source of the disease.
