How to grow bowl lotus? Master the cultivation methods and precautions
I. Growing environment
1. Light: Bowl lotus likes sunlight and needs at least 7 hours of light per day. Sufficient sunlight is very beneficial to its growth. If it is grown indoors, move it appropriately to a place with sunlight, otherwise its growth will be affected.
2. Water: Different growth stages require different amounts of water. In the early growth stage, do not supply too much water, otherwise root rot will occur. As it continues to grow, increase the amount of watering appropriately. Pay attention to keeping the water clean, otherwise it is very easy to cause infection and affect its growth.
3. Fertilizing: When planting, you can add decomposed soybean cake as a base fertilizer. When the upright leaves emerge, potassium fertilizer can be added to promote the formation of flower buds. Do not apply too much fertilizer.
4. Temperature: The temperature should be kept at 20°C so that it can grow and bloom normally. If it is below 15°C, it will be very difficult for it to bloom.
II. Propagation method
Use a tool to make an opening on the round end of the lotus seed so that water can seep into the seed. Soak the cracked seeds in warm water for 2-7 days. After they germinate, grow them in water. After a period of time, once the second leaf has grown and roots have developed, they can be planted.
III. Common pests and diseases
1. Aphids: They generally appear during the mature seedling stage. In the early stage, they can be caught by hand, and in severe cases, spray pesticide.
2. Diseases: Common ones include leaf spot and rot. Once found, promptly remove the diseased leaves to reduce the source of infection, then spray the leaves with carbendazim. Usually, ventilate frequently to ensure air quality.
