Huahua recently noticed that some plant lovers keep wailing that they can't grow flowers and that everything they touch dies. This is definitely not some "born flower-killer" fate. Trust Huahua: the varieties below will take root the moment they hit the ground, and are almost impossible to kill!

Four o'clock flower

The four o'clock flower is also called marvel-of-Peru or zhuangyuan flower. Everyone is familiar with it but can't name it, and some plant lovers easily confuse it with night-blooming jasmine. The common colors are bright red and rose red.

Now there are many color choices available, and they are beautiful too.

1. Sowing

The four o'clock flower gets its name because its pitch-black seeds look like landmines. Its seeds will take root and sprout as long as they land on soil!

First wet the potting soil, scatter the seeds however you like, turn the soil over a bit, and there is no need to bury them deliberately. They sprout within a week!

2. Daily care

Division: when the seedlings grow to about 12-16 cm, they can be divided and planted. A mix of leaf mold, sandy soil and garden soil is fine.

Light: they can be grown outdoors, on a balcony or on a windowsill, and a north-facing balcony with indirect light also works.

Water: generally water once every 2 days, preferably with a spray bottle, which can increase air humidity and let the leaves drink their fill too.

Summary: apart from daily watering, the four o'clock flower needs no fertilizer, and spent flowers can be placed directly into the pot as leaf-mold fertilizer.

Evening primrose

Evening primrose is also called sundrops. It is a super masochist: no matter how barren the spot, it can even grow from cracks in stones.

1. Sowing

It can be sown in spring, summer and autumn. Just scatter the seeds onto the soil, and they sprout in 2-5 days, turning lush green in about 7 days.

2. Daily care

Light: evening primrose has no requirements for soil or pots, but it must have light. It can be grown on a balcony or windowsill, and a relatively bright spot indoors also works.

Water: watering once every 3 days or so is OK.

Summary: although the evening primrose flower is small, its vitality is amazing. It survives as soon as it lands, and its ability to propagate is strong too: one seed can produce ten plants!

Sea thrift

Sea thrift, of the Plumbaginaceae family, very easily bursts into a clump and blooms in a ball shape. Northern plant lovers who like hydrangeas but can't grow them well should choose sea thrift instead.

1. Sowing

It can be sown once the temperature exceeds 18°C. Just keep the potting soil moist and it sprouts in 4-7 days.

2. Daily care

Soil: ordinary garden soil mixed with sandy soil is fine.

Light and water: sea thrift likes warmth and moisture. It can be grown outdoors in the north or indoors, and watered about once every 3 days.

Summary: sea thrift is an "honest" flower, not so flamboyant, and very easy to care for.

Cosmos

When talking about flowers that take root as soon as they land, how could we not mention cosmos? Right now is a great season to plant it.

1. Sowing

It can be sown as long as the temperature is above 18°C. Just keep the potting soil moist during germination. In about 10 days, when the seedlings grow to around 8 cm, you can pinch off the tips to strengthen them.

2. Daily care

Habits: cosmos likes light and tolerates drought, so it is suitable for a sunny spot such as a balcony or windowsill. Water once every 3-5 days, and no additional fertilizing is needed.

Pinching: cosmos grows fast. Besides pinching the seedlings, you should also pinch back appropriately after the first bloom to prevent leggy growth.

Zinnia

Zinnia is also called step-by-step higher. It can be planted anywhere across the country, north, south, east or west. It has many colors and a long flowering period, and the key point is that it is easy to grow!

1. Sowing

It can be sown when the temperature is above 15°C. The old method works: just keep the potting soil moist, and it sprouts in 3-5 days.

2. Daily care

Habits: zinnia likes warmth, so a relatively bright spot at home is fine, and direct sunlight is not required. It tolerates drought, so water only when the soil is dry, and no additional fertilizing is needed.

Pinching: there is no particular need for pinching or topping, so plant lovers who don't know how can simply skip it.

Summary: zinnia has strong self-care ability, needs no topping or anything like that, blooms for a long time, and is very tough.
