Orchids are hard to grow in summer? Build a small microclimate on your balcony to help them get through the summer safely

Once summer mode sets in, the weather gets hotter day by day, and the season that city orchid growers dread most has arrived. Summer is the hardest season for growing orchids in the city, because unlike the countryside or the mountains, the city has a temperature difference between day and night, and at night the orchid leaves can still catch a bit of dew. Summer in the city is generally dry plus muggy, so orchids in this season need especially careful care
How do you solve this problem? Quite a few orchid growers have asked me, and Haoshe Farmer also consulted several friends who grow orchids successfully in the city. As the saying goes, many friends make things easy. They shared an experience with me: in the city, orchids are generally grown on balconies, and according to the habits of orchids, what to pay attention to in summer is: ventilation, moisture retention, and coolness. How can this be achieved?
Place a fish tank on the balcony, the kind with an automatic water circulation mode is best, and arrange the orchids around the fish tank. Add shade netting to the sunny spots, with a light transmittance of about 25%. Because the water-circulating fish tank keeps circulating all day and night, it acts like a water curtain, so the temperature of the small microclimate built this way will naturally be a bit lower than normal temperature, and the air humidity in this environment will also be higher. The window glass cannot be completely sealed; there must be ventilation. Because of the temperature difference between indoors and outdoors, a natural breeze will form
There is another benefit to growing orchids with a fish tank: the water inside is very good for watering orchids. This has been proven in practice by many orchid growers, so city orchid growers no longer need to worry about the tap water problem.
