When growing orchids, fertilize well, and the orchid will have strong stems and green leaves. But how can you effectively get twice the result with half the effort? Nowadays, there is a great variety of fertilizers used for orchid care, with different methods. The only shared wish is to let the orchids you care for grow vigorously.

So orchid growers, through countless hardships and painstaking study, have created all kinds of special orchid fertilizers, which orchid growers rush to buy. Here, I introduce a cheap and practical homemade orchid nutrient fertilizer; it can be easily made for just a few yuan and the effect is pretty good too!

That is to soak soybeans that have already been infested with insects or are in good condition in water for about one day, then steam or boil them until the center of the soybeans is just cooked through, then turn off the heat, scoop them out and let them cool. This is because soybeans are rich in nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, which can provide the essential nutrients orchids need and promote healthy orchid growth. So, use cooked soybeans as fertilizer to effectively fertilize orchids.

There are two ways to use cooked soybeans to feed orchids. The first is to directly bury the cooked soybeans in the orchid pot. Remember that when burying the soybeans, try to choose the edge of the orchid pot for burying them in the soil, so as not to damage the orchid that is sending out new shoots.

The second method is to put the cooked soybeans in a plastic bottle, then add an appropriate amount of fermented rice washing water to the bottle with the soybeans, and cap the bottle tightly. Then place it in the sun to bake, and after about 20 days the fermentation is complete. Using this fertilizer to feed orchids gives quite good nutrition; the plants become lush and leafy and it does not attract insects.
