Everyone knows that roses bloom beautifully and abundantly, but if the rose buds abort at the end of the month, wouldn't you feel frustrated?
After finally growing them to the point where the buds are about to open, the buds suddenly turn yellow and abort. Instantly you feel awful. So why do roses that have been growing well abort their buds? Only by finding the cause of bud abortion can we solve the problem in a targeted way. Below, Lanyao will analyze for you the possible causes of rose bud abortion.
Causes of rose bud abortion:The common causes of rose bud abortion can be roughly divided into the following 3 types.1. Insufficient fertilizer
Roses bloom abundantly and consume a lot of nutrients. Some rose varieties are very multi-headed, with six or seven or even a dozen flowers blooming on a single branch. Some flower buds open first and consume a large portion of the nutrients. If fertilizer is not applied in time, the small buds are prone to turning yellow and withering due to insufficient nutrients.
For particularly multi-headed rose varieties, sometimes due to insufficient fertilizer, bud abortion with collective yellowing and withering can occur. Therefore, during the rose bud stage, be sure to top-dress fertilizer in time to replenish energy. Especially for multi-headed roses, if fertilizer and water management is not very sufficient, you can choose to thin the buds appropriately to avoid bud abortion.2. Insufficient light (sudden change of environment)
Roses are flowers that greatly love sunlight and need plenty of sunlight. Many flower lovers move their potted roses indoors for viewing when the buds are about to open, and then not long after, they find that the buds have turned yellow and withered. This is mainly because roses that originally had sufficient light experience a sudden environmental change, and the insufficient light causes an adverse reaction. Here we remind our flower lover friends that during the flower bud stage, try to move the plants as little as possible, so as not to cause adverse consequences due to sudden environmental changes.3. Sudden drought
Roses are a flower variety that is neither tolerant of waterlogging nor tolerant of drought, so reasonable water and fertilizer management should be noted in daily care. If roses at the bud stage suddenly suffer from drought, the phenomenon of buds turning yellow and falling off may occur. This is the plant's instinct for self-protection; under harsh conditions, it will first choose to abandon some organs, such as flowers, flower buds, leaves, and some branches.
