Today's star
The plant and flower that is today's star, known as the "blooming machine," is not like petunias, lobelias, moss rose and the like, which bloom nonstop as long as they get a bit of light, and are very lovable. But these are all herbaceous flowers, basically annual or biennial. The flower introduced today is called "Linglong hibiscus" and is a true perennial woody plant.
Linglong hibiscus
Linglong hibiscus, also known as little hibiscus, is a perennial semi-shrub plant of the genus Anisodontea in the mallow family, named because its form resembles a miniature version of the hibiscus. Its flowers are dainty, pink, round and cute, and it produces an enormous quantity of blooms, often covering the branches with flowers, with more flowers than leaves. It loves light; the more sufficient the light, the deeper the flower color, and it may even shine and sparkle, very beautiful and very lovable.
An extremely long blooming period
Linglong hibiscus, like its close relative the Chinese hibiscus, has an extremely long blooming period. In South China or tropical regions, this plant bears flowers 365 days a year and is cultivated as a landscaping plant for parks and streets. From a very small seedling, Linglong hibiscus will bloom continuously, one flower after another. Whether spring, summer, autumn or winter, as long as it is cared for properly, there will always be flowers blooming, earning it the title of blooming machine.
Very easy to grow
Linglong hibiscus has extremely strong vitality. Snap off a branch, throw it in the soil, keep the potting soil moist, and it will soon grow into a plant again; the success rate of cuttings is extremely high. Daily care is also easy: use loose, well-draining soil, water when dry, and leave it alone when not dry. Apart from shading and ventilation needed in summer, it can be managed casually in the other seasons. One drawback is that it is not cold-tolerant, so in northern regions it is only suitable for container growing.
Worth having
For flower lovers who enjoy growing flowers, tinkering with gardening, and pruning bonsai trees, Linglong hibiscus is a very good choice. It grows very fast and needs frequent pruning. According to your preference, you can shape it into a "ball" form or a lollipop form; both are very beautiful and easy to shape. The pruned branches can be used for cuttings, letting you enjoy the fun of successful propagation. Keep one at home and you will have flowers blooming all year round; it is well worth getting.
