When does the Dendrobium orchid bloom? An introduction to its flowering period

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
The Dendrobium orchid has a fairly long flowering period, from January to June, lasting half a year in total. When it is in bloom, the temperature needs to be controlled so that it stays in a relatively warm environment, but it must not be exposed to direct sunlight, as this is more conducive to its flowering.

1. Time

Compared with the vast majority of plants, its flowering period is especially long. It begins to bloom in January and only starts to gradually drop its flowers by June, spanning about half a year.

2. Care

During the flowering period, it needs a certain amount of care so that it can grow well and bloom well.

① Temperature

It originally comes from the tropical zone, so it prefers a warm environment, especially places where the temperature difference between day and night is relatively large. It does not like direct sunlight, so in winter we should place it in a semi-shaded spot, with the nighttime temperature at around 13 to 15°C and the daytime temperature at around 18 to 20°C. If the temperature is especially low, its flowering will be greatly affected, and the leaves may also drop.

② Humidity

It likes a relatively humid environment and has poor tolerance for drought, so its surroundings should be sprinkled with water frequently; only then will its leaves not turn yellow and the plant's flowering not be affected.

③ Fertilizing

It must not be fertilized while it is flowering, otherwise its flowers will be affected. Starting in May, it can be fertilized again, with diluted fertilizer water applied once every two weeks, which is good for its growth.

④ Ventilation

It has relatively high requirements for air circulation and ventilation, so the room should be aired out regularly.
