Flowers & Gardening 0 views
For growing tulips, it is best to choose a slightly acidic sandy soil rich in humus, loose and with good drainage. During the growing period, there is no need to water as long as the soil stays moist. For fertilizing, decomposed garbage compost, various cake fertilizers and the like are generally used. It is best to give it about 8 hours of light every day. Propagation can be done by dividing bulbs and by sowing seeds. In addition, watch out for the appearance of diseases.

I. Growing environment

1. Soil: It is best to choose a slightly acidic sandy soil rich in humus, loose and with good drainage.

2. Watering: Keeping the soil neither dry nor wet is the best state. During the growing period, there is no need to water as long as the soil stays moist. When the temperature is high and the weather is dry, water moderately 1-2 times.

3. Fertilizing: Generally decomposed garbage compost, various cake fertilizers and the like are used. It is very sensitive to fertilizer, and from the stem and leaf stage to the bud stage, only 2-3 topdressings are needed.

4. Light: It is best to receive about 8 hours of light every day, which allows it to grow better and helps it bloom normally. Although it likes sunlight, shade measures should be taken when the sunlight is strong.

II. Propagation methods

1. Bulb division propagation: Dig up the dormant bulbs and dry them, place them in a cool place to overwinter, and replant them separately between September and October.

2. Seed propagation: The seeds need a low temperature of 7-9°C and generally only sprout after 30-40 days. They are mostly sown in open fields in autumn. After overwintering, the seeds will sprout and emerge from the soil, and by June they will form bulbs. After dormancy, they are dug up and stored, and it takes 5-6 years before they bloom.

III. Common diseases

Generally there are gray mold, root rot and so on. In the early stage of root rot, the roots will rot, which does not affect it much. If it is severe, it will cause the flowers to wither. Make sure the soil has better drainage, disinfect the soil well, and spraying with chemicals can also be used as a supplement.
