How to care for Dendrobium orchids after flowering? Master the correct care methods

After a Dendrobium orchid finishes flowering, it needs to be given enough light. It is best to use an unglazed clay pot, as this provides better moisture retention and drainage. Secondly, do not give it fertilizer that is too strong; a light fertilizer is better for it, and of course, it should also be placed in a spot with fairly good air circulation.

1. Light

Light has a fairly large influence on its flowering; both the duration and intensity of light affect it. Regardless of the temperature, its flower buds will form as long as it is given short-day conditions. Once its flower buds differentiate, light can be appropriately increased. It is best to give it light from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day, and let it spend the rest of the time in a dark environment; this way the flowering effect will be better.

2. Flower pot

A relatively narrow, small unglazed clay pot can retain moisture and also drain water for it, so the plant will not suffer root rot. It is best to also add some charcoal to the bottom of the pot, which lets it grow better.

3. Fertilizer

Do not apply strong fertilizer to it, otherwise its roots will rot, and it will also have difficulty absorbing the fertilizer. When spring comes, after giving it some relatively dilute liquid fertilizer, phosphorus fertilizer and potassium fertilizer can be given two weeks later. This way its roots will be thicker and stronger, and its absorption capacity will be much better, which is very helpful for the opening of the flowers.

4. Air

If it is not given ventilation, its flowers will bloom relatively poorly. Normally we can place it in circulating air and spray water on the leaves and the surrounding area.
