Add a little soy sauce to hydrangeas, and the flowers grow bigger than your face and even turn blue
Hydrangea is also known as "eight-immortal flower", famous for its beautiful petals. The flowers cluster together to form a hydrangea-like ball, very beautiful, and the fragrance is very pleasant, deeply loved by flower lovers.
The blooming period of hydrangea is spring and summer. Buying hydrangeas at a flower shop is still quite expensive, so many flower lovers now choose to grow them in pots. Many flower lovers say hydrangeas are not easy to get to bloom, but I think it is not difficult. Do the following well, use one ingredient well, and you can also bring out a very fairy-like color.
1. Selection. Generally we buy them online or from the local flower market. For potted flowers, it is best to choose plants that have started to bloom. Choose a pot with a diameter of about 15-20cm, and later you can repot according to the size of the plant. Repotting is generally chosen in March or April each year.
2. Soil mixing. Flower lovers, remember this: the general principle of soil mixing is loose, breathable and fertile. It applies whether to hydrangeas or plants such as clematis. For different plants, you only need to adjust the proportions slightly. Hydrangea is a woody plant and can grow for many years, so when mixing soil we can appropriately add some materials that resist decomposition into the planting mix.
First I will choose coconut coir and peat, because they are quite breathable and also cheap, haha, I am rather poor, so these 2 are still quite cost-effective. With only these 2, drainage is still not very good, so you can add some perlite or volcanic rock to improve the soil's breathability and drainage and promote root growth; then put a little bone meal at the bottom of the pot as base fertilizer and that is ok.
Experienced flower lovers will know that when growing things, root rot is especially easy, and at this time you need a little green zeolite! Green zeolite can prevent plant root rot, so it can be said to be a very worthwhile material to add.
Then just mix peat, coconut coir, perlite, green zeolite and bone meal in a ratio of 3:3:2:0.5:0.5. There is no most perfect soil mix, only the most suitable one, so everyone should make some adjustments according to their own actual situation.
There is also a most important point: hydrangeas come in blue and red. If the soil is acidic, they are blue; if it is alkaline, they are red. So to adjust the color, two conditions are needed: acidic soil and aluminum ions.
Generally speaking, for a one-gallon hydrangea, add 8g of aluminum sulfate to one liter of water and drench the soil once every 10 days. If you are worried about burning the seedlings, you can appropriately lower the concentration. When the soil is too dry, you can first water once with clean water. Use it continuously until the flowers bloom. Industrial aluminum sulfate is very cheap; a few yuan a bottle can last for several years.
Tap water in many places is alkaline, so you can choose Huadongde acid-loving organic nutrient solution. This nutrient solution looks like "soy sauce" and is made by fermenting sugarcane molasses. It has a faint sweet taste and is rich in nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. Give it to hydrangeas once every 15 days. It can not only promote blooming, but also improve the acidity of the soil. It is a must-have for color adjustment.
