How to make beautiful, fresh flower pots and flower beds from stones around the home? Let's take a look at how others make them, using simple materials to create exquisite landscapes, like the one below, planted with some canna lilies and some geraniums, and it becomes a beautiful flower bed landscape.

In fact, this small flower bed is very easy to make, and it doesn't even require much skill. You just need to collect some hard pebbles and pair them with some mortar or cement to make it. It's best to use mud slurry, as it looks more natural.

First of all, of course, you need to prepare the right tools. A wheelbarrow is a good choice, though you can also just mix the mud slurry directly on the ground.

Put the sieved river sand on the wheelbarrow, then mix in some lime, and stir it properly. Of course, you need to get the amount right; the mud slurry doesn't need to be too sticky, as long as it can hold the stones stacked together, that's enough.

Then place some of the larger stones at the bottom layer. Before placing them, dig some small grooves in the soil to fix the stones in place, then spread a layer of mortar on the stones. Of course, smooth it out first, and then you can slowly start stacking.

Spread a new layer of mortar on top, place the stones on it before it sets, then place the second layer of stones, pressing down firmly and trying to keep them level, then tidy up any excess mortar, and after that you need to wait for the mortar to slowly dry.

Slowly stack it up layer by layer, about 20-plus cm deep. This depends on how large a flower bed you need to make. A small flower bed like this has a more natural texture than one stacked with cement, and it can also beautify the garden nicely.

It takes about an hour to make this small flower bed, though for a beginner it can be done in a few minutes. The most important thing is to design the specifications in advance, and next you need to prepare to beautify this stone garden.

After it's finished, you need to wait for this small stone flower bed to slowly dry. Don't touch it at first, otherwise the mortar will easily fall off. Beside it you can also make some raised flower beds, with some small pebbles laid alongside, and the whole yard will become more natural and charming.

When choosing stones, try not to pick ones with too many jagged edges, and stones that are too rounded are also not easy to work with. Collecting enough stones is also very important.

If you don't have lime, you can also use cement mortar instead. You can mix 4 parts sand with 1 part cement. These are all things you need to prepare in advance.

It's best to mix the mortar using a small wheelbarrow, and other tools like shovels and trowels should also be prepared. The picture above shows how it looks after the mortar has dried and flowers have been planted. It looks very charming, and paired with the small shrubs beside it, it doesn't look out of place at all.

When making mortar, be sure to wear rubber gloves. Whether it's cement or lime, they tend to dry out the skin and are somewhat harmful.

If you have a discarded stone mill at home, it can also be used to make a small flower bed. It's great for planting some drought-tolerant and heat-tolerant plants. In the picture above, some sempervivum succulents are chosen, such as Sempervivum 'Purple Beauty' or Sempervivum tectorum.

The idea below is to piece pebbles together onto a flower pot to make a charming flower pot. They are also very creative and look natural and fresh. You can use mortar directly, or simply use hot glue to stick the small pebbles directly onto the flower pot.

When mixing the mortar, you need to add some clean water, and after thorough stirring, they can become a very good building material. Before making these stone flower pots or flower beds, you need to make some drainage channels on the soil surface to avoid water becoming blocked.

The picture above shows the final result. For the companion plants, choose heat-tolerant plants, the most common being the climbing nasturtium, which blooms with red flowers, along with a few taller canna lilies. Once they bloom, you'll be able to see golden-yellow or red flowers.

The stone flower pots are used for planting geraniums and pansies, paired with some daffodils as accents, which is also a good choice.
