How to Grow Winter Jasmine? A Detailed Guide to Cultivation Methods
1. Care Environment
(1) Soil: It requires loose, fertile soil. Since it is afraid of waterlogging, drainage must also be good. In addition, because the plant grows well in acidic soil and poorly in alkaline soil, it needs slightly acidic soil.
(2) Temperature: It likes warmth, preferably around 15 degrees. It should be neither too high nor too low. Therefore, cooling is needed in summer, and in winter it should be placed in a warm spot. If the temperature can be kept at around 15 degrees before and after the Spring Festival, it can bloom.
(3) Light: The requirements are basically the same as for temperature; it should be neither too strong nor too weak. Adjust according to the specific situation; normally, scattered light is required.
(4) Watering: It likes moisture and needs a sufficient water supply. Especially before the flowering period, water one to three times depending on whether the soil is dry or moist. After the Start of Autumn, gradually reduce the amount of watering to help it overwinter safely.
(5) Fertilizing: When planting, some base fertilizer can be added to the soil, such as animal manure. During the growing season, apply decomposed liquid fertilizer once or twice a month. At the stage of flower bud differentiation, some fertilizer containing phosphorus should be applied. Before the flowering period, liquid fertilizer can also be used once to prolong the flowering period. However, no matter at which stage the fertilizer is applied, it must not be too concentrated.
2. Pruning
Winter jasmine has a particularly strong ability to sprout, so it is best to prune it regularly. In addition to pinching during the growing season, overly dense and messy branches can also be cut off to maintain the tree shape. After flowering, the branches should also be cut a bit shorter.
