How to Grow a Banyan Tree? Detailed Care Methods and Precautions
1. Growing Environment
(1) Temperature: The banyan tree likes warmth, and around fifteen degrees is sufficient. What needs the most attention is winter, when it must be above eight degrees.
(2) Fertilizer: Its demand is relatively large, especially during the growing season. When it is growing very fast, apply organic liquid fertilizer once a month. In addition, in May and August, alum fertilizer water also needs to be used once extra. Also, if its growth does not seem very good, you can apply additional fertilizer once a day, using animal manure and the like. In addition, foliar feeding can also be done, using nutrient solution and so on. However, summer is too hot, and in winter there is almost no demand, so neither is suitable for fertilizing.
(3) Watering: Water frequently during the growing season to ensure humidity. Especially in summer, during the hottest time, twice a day is needed. However, more is not always better, and it must not become waterlogged. Besides watering, you can also sprinkle water on the ground or into the air to raise humidity.
(4) Light: Plenty of sunlight needs to be provided, especially in winter. In summer, when the light is too strong, shading is likewise needed.
2. Repotting
Regular repotting is of great significance to its growth. However, the interval differs for plants of different ages: young plants about once every two years, and old specimens once every three to four years. The best time is from late April to early May. Besides replacing half of the old soil with fertile new soil, you also need to cut off all dry, overly dense, and overly short roots, and prune its shape a little.
