Many plant lovers enjoy growing succulents, because succulents are easy to grow and hardly need any care. But in this weather, some succulents have already started to go soft and wilted, and their leaves are getting thinner and thinner, looking just awful. Plant lovers are all worried - now that it's like this, how can we help them get through the summer smoothly?

If you want your succulents to get through the summer smoothly, you first need to grow them plump and chubby. Today Hua'er will show you how sprinkling a bit of "strengthening powder" into the potting soil can make their leaves thick and glossy.

1. Sprinkle bone meal

Besides being rich in phosphorus, bone meal also contains some other trace elements. It can supply succulents with plenty of nutrients, speed up growth, make the leaves thicker, and boost their resistance too.

Normally, when you eat meat, collect the bones, then first boil them in boiling water for 2-3 hours, changing the water once in between, to boil out the salt and grease. Let them dry first, then put them under the sun to bake for two or three days, and they'll be very easy to crush.

Sprinkle the crushed bone meal directly on the surface of the potting soil, then cover it with a thin layer of soil, and water thoroughly so the succulents can absorb it well. The finer the bone meal, the better.

2. Eggshell powder

Eggshells are rich in nutrients and can provide succulents with many elements, including abundant nitrogen, calcium, phosphorus, potassium and more. Once absorbed, the succulents can grow quickly.

Collect the eggshells, wash them clean with water, let them dry, then take them outside to bake in the sun. After two or three days of sun, crush them, or just put them in a pan and stir-fry until all the moisture is gone, then put them in a bowl and press them and they'll break apart.

Also sprinkle it directly onto the surface of the potting soil, then cover with a thin layer of soil, and water thoroughly so it absorbs quickly and the leaves grow thicker.

That's all for succulent care tips. If you have anything to add, plant lovers, feel free to share it with everyone in the comments section below. To learn more about growing plants, follow Huajianke!
