1. Soil

Strawberries are suited to growing in loose, fertile, slightly acidic soil. Soil that is too heavy and clayey has poor aeration and drainage, which is not good for strawberry growth.

2. Temperature

The temperature suitable for strawberry growth is 5-30°C. If the temperature is too high or too low, it will affect their growth. If the temperature is above 30°C, corresponding shading measures should be taken.

3. Light

Strawberries have strong shade tolerance, but also need plenty of sunlight. They are a sun-loving plant, and only with sufficient sunlight will the fruit grow brightly colored and sweet-tasting; if there is insufficient sunlight, the fruit will be small. Note that sunlight must not be too intense either, and they must not be exposed to prolonged blazing sun.

4. Watering

Strawberries are not tolerant of waterlogging. In early spring when they sprout, water sparingly and moderately; after the soil becomes dry, water moderately; and water once before winter arrives. However, if it rains too much normally, drainage measures should be taken promptly.

5. Points to note

1. Pests and diseases: Strawberries are very susceptible to pests and diseases, commonly leaf spot, root rot or powdery mildew. Once discovered, measures should be taken promptly, such as spraying chemicals or disinfecting the soil; the specific method depends on the situation.

2. Repotting: Potted strawberries should be repotted after two years. When repotting, cut off dead roots and aged rhizomes, then plant them in fresh potting soil.
