I haven't seen my pot friends for a while; I was busy with some trivial matters for nearly a month, and now I have time to take care of my succulents again, with both joys and worries. The summer heat still can't beat the bugs' heat tolerance. After not paying attention for a while, several succulents were covered with hateful mealybugs. Under the scorching sun, the succulents had already begun to shrivel, yet the mealybugs were still thriving endlessly.

Pest extermination really requires being ready at all times. I immediately moved the diseased succulents to a ventilated, shaded place, sprayed insecticide at night, picked off the mealybugs with tweezers, and sprayed the others that were not infected with Huahuashen as a preventive measure. Besides the shock of bugs, there were still surprises. I suddenly discovered that the three Peach Egg brothers and the Pansy had developed variegation. Happiness came too suddenly; it may have been the intense sun exposure that caused a genetic mutation. The Peach Egg turned into Yellow Egg, and the Pansy also developed thread-like variegation.

Looking at the comparison in the picture above makes it clear, and all the hard work will feel worthwhile. A batch of Lithops planted before summer has already established itself, quite plump, and I look forward to them shedding their skins and growing in autumn; perhaps one might even show a Mercedes pattern. Although Haworthia cooperi and Haworthia maughanii look a bit haggard, and Haworthia truncata is a little shriveled, I actually found that Haworthia cooperi 'Gekko' has grown several side shoots. The Demon King Haworthia cooperi that had previously fallen to the ground has grown back, and the leaves that were broken off have grown into small seedlings.

When you have been away from your succulents for a while, perhaps you will discover different growth surprises. The vitality of succulents is tenacious; they also try to adapt to the environment, constantly improve themselves, and never forget to show their beauty for you to admire.
