Roses are a flower we're all very familiar with. Balcony gardens, front gates and courtyards, roadside plazas - rose flowers can be seen everywhere. When summer arrives, colorful blossoms dance lightly in the wind, sending out waves of subtle fragrance, charming every flower lover

When summer arrives, all kinds of flying and crawling insects also begin to breed, harming flowers, grass and trees, chewing leaves and sucking sap, affecting plant growth - very annoying.

If your roses get bugs, what should you do? Let's take a look together:

1. Aphids

Aphids are one of the most common pests and diseases on roses. They crowd densely at the tips of the plant or around the buds. Small plants will stop growing, and for those that have put out buds, the buds cannot swell or shrink and fail to open. At this point you have to spray insecticide over the whole plant, otherwise it's very hard to completely kill the aphids.

If there are only a few scattered ones or they've just started to breed, you can take the plant under the tap and gently rinse it. Aphids have very little grip and will be washed away with the water flow. You can also mix washing powder or dish soap with water and spray the front and back of the rose leaves, which is also very effective.

2. Red spider mites

Red spider mites are also a very common pest in summer. They harm the plant's stems, flowers and leaves, sucking the plant's sap, reducing the plant's moisture, causing leaves to lose their green color and turn white, leaves to yellow and curl, leaves to drop, and even death. At this point, you should cut off the curled leaves, destroy and clean them up, then spray insecticide to completely kill them, otherwise they can easily make a comeback.

If there aren't too many, you can use pungent-smelling things like garlic, ginger and onion, chop and mash them, mix with water, and spray the whole plant - the effect is quite good too.

3. Whiteflies

Whiteflies, also called small white moths, are very small in size, good at flying and jumping, and breed very fast. In a few days they can attack your flowers in swarms, sucking the sap of the leaves, making the plant decline or even die. At this point you must use insecticide to eliminate the problem for good.

If they've just started to emerge, you can mix washing powder with water and spray, or on a windy day put the plant outside to get some wind. Whiteflies have short legs and thin wings - they can't stand being blown.

4. Scale insects

Scale insect infection is also very troublesome. They attach to the plant, harm the plant's leaves and flowers, suck the sap, cause leaves to yellow and drop, and in severe cases the plant can also die. If the pests and diseases are severe, you also need to spray pesticide to completely kill them.

If there are few insects, you can mix high-proof liquor with water and spray, or use tweezers to pick them off and kill them - either works.

There are also some other pests and diseases, and you should decide what method to use to kill the insects according to the situation - don't act blindly.

For insecticides, it's generally better to use ones with the word "mite" in the name, such as shamiejing and shamiechun - both are fine. But you must buy from a legitimate place, don't buy fake pesticides, which delays things and wastes time - not worth it.

In the usual care of roses, give them plenty of sun, water moderately, observe the plant's condition often, and treat problems promptly when discovered, so your roses bloom abundantly and large

Let your roses fill the pot with blooms, green leaves and red flowers, placed on the balcony, and the butterflies will surely come!
