Grown with this potting mix and method for years, orchids produce many shoots and flowers with emerald-green, glossy leaves

Orchids are not only for enjoying their flowers, but also their leaves. To get more shoots, more flowers, and glossy emerald-green leaves when growing orchids at home, you need good care methods. In my ten years of growing orchids, I have basically figured out orchid growth very thoroughly. Although I cannot be called an expert, I can grow every pot of orchids with deep green, glossy leaves and abundant flowers. I have learned that many flower enthusiasts nowadays use all sorts of potting media and methods for growing orchids. I have also used many media and methods, and after long-term practice, I believe the best media and methods for growing orchids are none other than the following.
Many flower enthusiasts use crushed brick pieces, coarse sand and other media as a drainage layer at the bottom of the pot when growing orchids. Although these media do provide air permeability, they do not greatly promote orchid growth. After long observation, I believe coal ash cinders are best for the bottom of orchid pots. Coal ash cinders not only provide air permeability and water absorption, but also contain various nutrients for orchid growth and have a sterilizing and disinfecting effect, which can reduce the occurrence of black spot disease on leaves. When planting or repotting orchids, put coal ash cinders in the bottom of the pot to one quarter of the pot's capacity, then fill in the orchid potting mix on top. Using this medium at the bottom of orchid pots, when you repot next time you will find the orchid roots growing very vigorously, with many roots growing into the coal ash cinders, and not a single rotted root, many times better than other media for the pot bottom.
Besides good media, suitable care methods are also indispensable for growing orchids. Although orchids are shade-loving plants, it is very difficult for them to develop flower buds without light. Therefore, besides avoiding direct strong sunlight, appropriately increasing light is not only beneficial for bud formation and flowering, but can also make leaves larger and thicker with a deep green color. Therefore, when growing orchids at home, it is best to place them in a half-shade, half-sun environment for care, and the humidity of the care environment should reach above 60%, but the humidity in an ordinary home is very hard to achieve, so artificial humidification is needed. You can use cotton pads, sponges and other items soaked in water and placed around the orchids, which gives a very good humidifying effect.
The growth habit of orchids requires a growing environment with a large temperature difference. With a large temperature difference, the pseudobulb will gather sufficient nutrients and swell, to supply sprouting and bud formation. With a large temperature difference the pseudobulb is large, and with a small temperature difference the pseudobulb is small. Therefore, when growing orchids at home, you should find ways to increase the day-night temperature difference to promote more shoots and more flowers. Many flower enthusiasts nowadays are willing to use fungicides when growing orchids, but they do not know that excessive use of fungicides will reduce the immunity of orchids and affect the health of the orchid plant. The ultraviolet rays of sunlight have a strong sterilizing effect. So, apart from using fungicides when disease occurs, there is no need to use fungicides on generally healthy orchid plants.
