Avoid the following points, and I believe the chance of your succulents dying will be greatly reduced~

Watering too much

When watering succulents in summer, too much water means certain death, with high temperatures, too much water is like boiling the succulent, so the amount of water must be controlled well. If you really cannot resist the urge, you can water a small amount along the wall of the pot, just enough to give a bit of moisture.

Not watering at all

If you do not water, they will either die of dryness, and if they do not die of dryness, then once the temperature drops and you give water, they may still develop black rot. Black rot in succulents is caused by a fungus called "Fusarium oxysporum" - a type of facultative parasitic fungus that can both infect plants and survive in soil.

When the roots have no water to absorb, Fusarium can also lie dormant on the roots, and once a large amount of water is suddenly given, it may begin to infect the succulent crazily.

So,after experiencing an especially long dry period, pay attention to the timing of the first watering. Generally choose consecutive sunny days to water. If the soil has poor air permeability, first water a small amount to moisten the soil, helping the succulent regain vitality before watering heavily.

Watering at noon

Watering at noon when the sun is strongest is also like boiling the succulent; it is stuffy and hot, and the water cannot effectively disperse, and high temperatures actually have the opposite effect on root water absorption, hindering the roots from absorbing water. Watering when the morning temperature rises is also not recommended.

So it is stillbetter to water in the evening when it is cooler。

Exposure to blazing sun

When shaded, succulents may grow leggy and lose color, making their appearance worse, but if not shaded and exposed to blazing sun, what you may face is sunburn and death by sun.

For the safety of the succulents, it is still better to shade them. When installing a shade net, you must also consider ventilation. Do not shade them in a way that makes ventilation worse, which in the end causes the succulents to develop black rot and turn to mush.

Shade, shade! For the beauty of succulents~

Rainstorms

Summer weather is changeable, and after a rainstorm there is usually high-temperature, high-humidity weather. At this time, if outdoor-grown succulents are not brought in, then expect them to develop black rot in patches. So in summer, it is recommended that outdoor-grown succulents had best still have a shade net hung up, which also has some rain-blocking function.

Using soil with poor air permeability

The roots of succulents simply cannot breathe! They suffocate to death in the pot, so it is still recommended to use a high proportion of gritty soil, which is safer for getting through summer.

Choosing dark-colored flower pots and top dressings

Dark-colored flower pots have strong heat-absorbing performance. If you use dark-colored flower pots and expose them to blazing sun, the temperature is truly no joke; the temperature in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai can really cook an egg.

The editor has touched a small black square pot in the middle of summer, and it was really too hot to handle! Similarly, there are glazed ceramic pots and iron bucket pots. Succulent growers who use these two kinds of pots must pay attention to cooling them down!!

Also, dark-colored top dressing absorbs heat, so it is better to choose light-colored top dressing stones like akadama and maifan stone.

Leaving succulents unattended for a long time

Although succulents are prone to black rot and turning to mush in summer, black rot also needs time to kill the whole plant.

If black rot is discovered in time, you can behead and treat it in time.

Although succulents are much less troublesome than other plants, summer temperatures are high, unlike winter, and succulents also need more care~

It is best to check their condition every few days.
