Many flower lovers like to go to the flower market to pick up some seasonal flowers and plants to grow at home, adding vitality and energy to the household. But when buying fresh flowers at the flower market, you also need to pay attention to techniques, otherwise it is easy to pick out inferior flowers and plants.

1. Flowers on sale generally come in two types: one with a soil ball, and one with bare roots and no soil ball

With a soil ball: mostly evergreen flowers. Generally speaking, seedlings with a soil ball are of stable quality, with little root damage, which helps them survive. Try to choose this type, and it is best to buy when the buds have just sprouted, as the survival rate is high at this time.

Without a soil ball: when buying bare-root flowers, note that it is best to do so when the buds have just sprouted, and choose ones with luxuriant, fresh branches and leaves and intact roots with no breakage.

Note: you need to tell the difference. The soil balls of some flowers may be fake. When buying, lift the flower and shake it gently. If the soil ball falls off easily, it is a fake soil ball, and you must absolutely not buy this kind of flower.

2. Potted flowers

You need to pay even more attention when buying potted flowers. Because potted flowers grow in pots, they can easily be passed off as something they are not. So you must learn how to choose potted flowers.

How to tell the quality of potted flowers:

The specific method is: for woody flowers, grasp the stem of the flower or tree; if you can lift it up together with the pot and soil, it is generally a real potted plant, otherwise it is a fake potted plant; for herbaceous flowers, pull up gently with a little force; if the flower stays firm, it is a real potted plant, and if it can be pulled out of the flower pot, it is a fake potted plant.

Look at the shape: the height of the flower and the size of the crown should be in direct proportion to the size of the pot, and the overall shape of the branches, leaves, flowers and fruit should be harmonious and beautiful. A tall flower or tree growing in a tiny pot is definitely a fake potted plant because of this mismatch.

When buying, please do not just go for the cheap option. It is recommended to buy from a fixed stall. If you buy from someone selling off a cart everywhere, who will you go to if there is a problem?

3. Large potted plants

Large potted plants with auspicious meanings that can guard the home, such as the money tree, Brazilian wood and lucky bamboo, have long been loved by many flower lovers. The prices of such plants are also generally on the high side. In order to sell them, some unscrupulous traders spray brighteners on the leaves to make them look better. Using this substance occasionally has little effect, but traders generally wipe it off in the evening. After flower lovers buy them and take them home, they do not know there is brightener on them, so they will not wash them. This brightener stuck to the leaf surface will block the flower's photosynthesis, and before long the whole plant will gradually wither. So after buying this kind of potted plant, remember to wipe the leaves when you get home.

4. Cactus

When you come across a cactus with small frost spots on the stem or ball, do not buy it no matter how cheap it is. This kind of flower looks fine on the surface, but in fact the inside of the plant has long been damaged. If it is not treated, the only outcome waiting for it is death.
