Agave, also known as dragon tongue plant, has leaves arranged in a rosette pattern that look like swords; it is an evergreen plant that also purifies the air, is very easy to grow, and has become highly popular among flower enthusiasts in recent years.

Caring for agave takes only these 4 points to make it grow layer upon layer upward, with leaves that are emerald green and glossy!

1. Sunlight

Agave is a light-loving plant and can tolerate full sun. It can be placed directly on a balcony, outside in the yard, or anywhere with plenty of sunlight for care. In summer, it can be given appropriate shade at noon.

Some flower enthusiasts find their agave growing poorly, losing its original glossiness, with leaves becoming a bit soft and droopy. This is very likely caused by insufficient light. It can be moved to a place with more ample sunlight, and it will recover.

2. Watering

Agave is fairly drought-tolerant and does not have high water requirements. Just water it thoroughly whenever the edges of the potting soil show signs of drying and cracking. During the growing season, it can be watered a bit more, which helps it grow better. In winter, agave enters dormancy, and the potting soil should be kept appropriately dry; too much moisture will cause root rot.

3. Fertilizing

Agave has very strong vitality and can grow even in poor soil. Its fertilizer requirements are not particularly high; applying fertilizer once or twice a year is enough. You can bury some organic fertilizer, such as bone meal or animal manure, which can provide nutrients for it over the long term.

4. Soil

Agave prefers a sandy soil environment, which allows its roots to breathe better. It grows slowly, so it can be repotted only once every 2-3 years. When mixing soil, use sandy soil as the base, then mix in leaf mold or garden soil, and add some eggshell powder to increase the soil's air permeability and add nutrients.

That is all for agave care. If flower enthusiasts have anything to add, you can share it with everyone in the comments section below. To learn more about flower-growing knowledge, you can follow Flower Fairy!
