How to Grow Snake Plants So They Thrive? A Complete Guide to Care Methods
1. Light
Snake plants like sunlight, so if you want to grow them better, place them in a spot with plenty of sunlight, but they must not be exposed to blazing sun, as it may very likely scorch them. It is best to place them on an indoor balcony; only in a spot with good sunlight can they grow better.
2. Temperature
The suitable temperature for snake plant growth is around 23°C. If the temperature is low in winter, keep them indoors. If left outdoors in low temperatures for a long time, they may very likely freeze and be damaged.
3. Watering
Do not water too frequently; once every 2-3 days is enough. Water again only when the soil is dry. If the soil is still moist, there is no need to water again. Too much water or watering too frequently can cause waterlogging, which easily leads to root rot.
4. Fertilizing
To grow snake plants better, fertilizing is also a very important aspect. Snake plants are not strict about fertilizer; during their growing season, applying fertilizer once every 15 days is enough.
5. Repotting
Repotting should be done in early spring. When repotting, be very careful: clean the old soil off the plant's stems, clear out the old soil in the pot, and replace it with new nutrient soil. After repotting, there is no need to water at first; you can place it in a spot with indirect light, then water lightly after one week. This is especially true for plants propagated by division, as too much water can easily cause the wounds to rot.
