How to Grow Monstera deliciosa Well? A Detailed Guide to Care Methods
1. Watering
To grow Monstera deliciosa well, the potting soil must stay moist. If the weather is too dry, you can spray some water. In winter, when temperatures are low, water less as appropriate, as long as the soil stays slightly on the dry side. In addition, clean the leaves with clean water on schedule; dust buildup affects photosynthesis and also reduces its ornamental value.
2. Light
Monstera deliciosa is fairly shade-tolerant, so do not leave it in a strong-light environment for long periods. It can take some indirect light as appropriate. When strong light hits it, move it promptly. In summer, when temperatures are high and sunlight is intense, shade it appropriately. It is best to grow it in a bright and well-ventilated environment.
3. Repotting
To help it grow better, repot it once every spring. Choose a suitable pot and replace it with fresh potting soil, and just trim the excess roots as appropriate. Before repotting, you can prune off yellow, withered and diseased leaves. After repotting, place it in a warm, semi-shaded environment and do not water it; after it adapts for a period, you can resume normal watering.
4. Pruning
Pruning lets Monstera deliciosa grow better. When pruning, you must not use scissors, because wounds made by scissors heal with great difficulty. If you want it to grow taller, you can cut off leaves that have already aged as appropriate; to reduce nutrient consumption, diseased and yellow leaves should be pruned off promptly.
