How to grow orchids best? Master these care tips
1. Watering
Watering orchids depends on the climate. If the temperature is low, watering should be controlled, once every 5-7 days is enough; in spring and autumn, water once every 2-3 days; in summer when the temperature is high, water 1-2 times a day. Watering should not be excessive or too little; it is best to keep the soil slightly moist. Do not pour water on the leaves, as this can easily cause black spots to appear.
2. Temperature
The most suitable temperature is generally 16-24°C. In summer, the maximum should not exceed 30°C; in winter, the minimum should not be lower than 5°C. It is best to keep it indoors to avoid frost damage to the orchid; 10-12°C during the day is ideal. If grown indoors, open the windows often to ensure air circulation.
3. Light
Orchids should not be exposed to strong sunlight. When the sunlight is relatively strong, provide shade for them, and do not let them receive light for long periods. You can let them receive diffused light in the morning or afternoon. It is best to place them under the eaves or on a balcony. In winter, they can receive diffused light, but avoid direct sun exposure.
4. Pruning
To grow orchids well, proper pruning is necessary. Promptly cut off old leaves and yellow leaves, which helps with air circulation. In particular, leaves damaged by pests and diseases must be removed immediately to avoid increasing sources of infection. The scissors used to cut diseased leaves should preferably be cleaned promptly. Do not use the scissors used for cutting diseased leaves to cut healthy leaves, as this may cause infection.
