How to grow Bryophyllum pinnatum? A full guide to its cultivation methods
1. Soil:
To grow Bryophyllum pinnatum, it is best to choose fertile, sandy soil with good drainage and aeration.
2. Watering:
Be sure to water moderately; it is best to wait until the soil has dried out completely before watering. Before watering, you can check the soil - if it is still moist, there is no need to water. Generally, watering once a week is enough. In autumn and winter, reduce the amount of watering; you can water once every two weeks, as long as the potting soil stays moist.
3. Light:
Bryophyllum pinnatum likes sunlight, but it must not be exposed to scorching sun. During the vigorous growing period, increase the light exposure; it needs at least four hours of light every day. Only in this way can it grow faster and better.
4. Temperature:
It likes a relatively mild growing environment. Generally, keeping the temperature at around 15°C is enough, and in winter it should not drop below 10°C. If the temperature is too low, it will cause leaf drop and even frost damage. So when growing it in winter, take some warming measures when necessary.
5. Fertilizing:
It is not strict about fertilizer. During the growing period, apply it 1-2 times a month. When nutrients are still present, there is no need to fertilize again. To help the flowers bloom better, apply fertilizer 1-2 times in the month before flowering, so that it has enough nutrients. Applying too much or too frequent fertilizer may cause drying out or even death.
