Money String, its name is just like its appearance, plump and fleshy like strings of copper coins, looking especially cute.

For every pot of Money String, I plant many stems together at once. When the summer rainy season comes, once the rain falls on them, the main stems will sprout a huge number of small buds, and by autumn they turn into a compact, full pot. As soon as early winter arrives, the effect of the temperature difference between day and night and the sunlight will give Money String a transformation that brings you unexpected surprises.

My first pot of Money String

When I fell into the succulent hobby and was choosing varieties, Money String was selected. At that time, succulent prices were not yet as acceptable to the general public as they are now, so I only bought two short stems the size of a little finger and planted them. With no experience, I carefully looked after the two of them. In autumn, I found that the small pot I had chosen because they were small could no longer hold them, so I switched to a medium-sized one. The following spring, the medium pot was switched to a large one, and I also trimmed off a few stems and moved them to the corridor at the stair entrance. In summer, I changed the location again and moved them to the small courtyard on the third floor. In autumn, I found that the rooftop position was better, so the veteran plants were sent to the rooftop, and of course Money String was among them.

Although going up and down to the rooftop is a bit tiring, seeing my beloved succulents become so beautiful makes the tiredness worth it.

In summer, they can get sun as soon as the sun rises in the morning, and they avoid the sun when the temperature is highest at noon (cooling off behind the water tank). They only get the westward sun around four o'clock, so for getting through summer I only need to pull half of the shade net, and when it rains for many days in a row I can also move them under the shade net to take shelter. (I generally use a double layer. The outdoor temperature here in summer can reach as high as 40°C.)

You may wonder why, when the outdoor summer temperature is so high, the succulents are still kept on the rooftop all the time. They already avoid the harshest sun at noon and only get the morning and evening sun, and the rooftop is windy so heat dissipates quickly. After dinner, I carry two buckets of water up and splash it on the rooftop, which increases humidity and can also lower the temperature, turning it into an environment suitable for growing succulents, and it is also a good place to cool off. Last summer, my daughter summoned up the courage to climb up to the rooftop with me. Seeing the beautiful succulents and feeling the cool breeze, even her mood became cheerful. My daughter said, "Mom, can we bring a table up here so I can do my homework while cooling off? No wonder you can stay up here every day until just before bedtime." I was amused. It seems my succulent garden is not bad.

I have talked too much, let's get to the point.

After switching to a large pot, it grew at flying speed

When first moved to the rooftop

In winter, almost full sun, when exposed to the noon sunlight.

The westward sunlight

Daily sunlight, the influence of the temperature difference between day and night, little by little changes.

The color becomes more and more beautiful

After the Spring Festival, the strong wind left the rooftop in a mess.

The strong wind knocked over the flower pots on the layer above, and the branches that broke when they fell were still beautiful.

Still beautiful, not diminished by the injury.

Even photos taken at night can be very beautiful

From the ladder to the rooftop, the outstanding Money String is the first thing you see, very eye-catching on the flower stand.

Another pot of Money String's transformation

Among them are the stems trimmed from the previous pot. When first moved to the rooftop, they were tanned to a healthy color by the summer sun. After being rained on during the rainy season, the stems turned green and became sturdier and sturdier, and the arrival of winter let it catch up with its mother.

These were divided from that pot, split into two pots, and these are the two most outstanding ones.

No matter how you look at it, it looks like the witch "Medusa's" snake hair.

Busy with work, I had not seen them for many days. Although it was already dark, I still gave her a haircut, fitting the solar term of the Dragon Raising Its Head on the second day of the second month. I did not even have time to get my own hair cut but cut theirs instead. I am really too good to my succulent treasures.

A big pile of messy hair trimmed off

A few days ago the temperature suddenly rose, and on top of that the stems were trimmed, so now it is recuperating in the second-floor corridor.

This cute baby also needs to show its face

The old house can no longer hold it

Too many heads sprouted, so switch to a big house.

House switched, moved to the rooftop to settle in.

Planted just after the Spring Festival

My Money Strings all grow very fast. I planned to grow a smaller pot to put beside my office desk, but it is still too healthy.

Mini Money String, probably a new variety. I cannot control mine to produce small ones myself, so I might as well buy mini ones and plant them, saving effort.

Even a tiny pot can sprout so many small buds

Given away

This pot was given away too

And this pot as well. Under my influence, my friends all like Money String.

Grown for a colleague, and now I do not even want to give it to her.

A group photo taken a few days ago. I could not gather the entire Money String team. The phone screen probably could not fit them all. I will add photos after my full-screen photo technique improves. (Every time my full-screen photos come out crooked and uneven.)

Newly acquired variegated Money String

Money String is everywhere

The rooftop is a paradise for succulents. More and more treasures have been sent up here. Sunlight, temperature differences and wind let them bloom beautifully, and all kinds of varieties show their elegance here.
