Why do the potted plants and flowers you just bought die easily? With these few care tips, flower lovers can learn to keep them alive easily.

One: When buying flowers and plants, you need to have a certain understanding of their basic information. This makes it easier to judge whether the flowers and plants are growing normally. This avoids unscrupulous sellers passing off fakes as genuine and passing off inferior goods as good ones.

Two: Many people change the soil and repot immediately when they bring the flowers and plants home. In fact, doing this is wrong. Because of changes in environment, temperature and other aspects, newly bought flowers and plants need a transitional adaptation period to get used to the new environment.

If you repot and change the soil at this time, it will cause their growth to stall, so acclimatising them after purchase is a necessary step. This applies to most flowers and plants. You only need to place them in a well-ventilated spot with a little scattered light and let them rest quietly. Do not rush to fertilise them or put them in the sun. Water them thoroughly when it is time to water, or occasionally spray a little water on the leaves.

Three: Repotting. After the new seedlings have gone through the acclimatisation period and adapted, you can choose a suitable flower pot and a growing medium that matches its growth habits (some flowers like alkaline soil, some like slightly acidic soil) for potting. When potting, you must cut off dead leaves, rotten roots, hollow roots, broken roots and so on one by one. Then disinfect with a carbendazim solution for about fifteen minutes, take it out and let it dry naturally in the shade before potting.

Four: Care after potting and later management. After potting, let it rest quietly for more than half a month (depending on the recovery of the flowers and plants). Only then can you care for it according to its habits. Sun-loving plants can be placed in a well-ventilated spot. Let them enjoy sunlight more. Shade-loving plants need to continue resting quietly in a spot with scattered light and good ventilation.

Five: Prevention and control of viral and pest problems. In the plum rain and high-temperature seasons, when bacteria multiply rapidly and the incidence rate is high, you need to use medication to prevent and control problems in flowers and plants. You can spray two to three times with a thiophanate-methyl or carbendazim solution, or you can soak plant ash in water, take the clear upper layer of water and spray it directly. It can both prevent viral and pest problems and serve as fertiliser, achieving two things at once.
